of the same questions labelling those who disagree with their viewpoint as stupid and all the other put downs. I have seen allot of intelligent and respectful people on both sides of many issues. But categorically calling people from opposing groups as stupid is more damaging to your own credibility. Agree?

Cadisney I may have strong disagreeent with Mormons but I don't think they are stupid. The few I have known were likeable. I don't think disagreement has to mean disrespect.

Thanks hamoh for your honesty. I do admit sometimes I savour some of the humour.

What is odd to is in my country (Canada) promoting hatred towards identifiable groups is against the law. And I am not referring to disagreement or minor put downs. But I have seen some pretty militant rants at times.

Don't worry Cad I didn't take it personal. I may have posted answers disagreeig or questioning some Moron practices but I am confident they were sincere. And I have sen anti-Mormon nonsense bashing. Like a question posted a few moments ago.

I admit at times it is a bit of a struggle to bite my own tongue. I was trained by one of the most acid tongued person I ever met. I try and resist the urges to unleash my inner oral porcupine. (most people have an inner child) I was robbed of my inner childhood.

Chosen one I think you missed the post. I am not referrig to a question or a person but to smear an entire group such as we witness in here regularly. Certainly you cannot believe all people of one belief system are stupid. What then happens when they convert to a different viewpoint or vice versa. Did they grow a brain or lose it? Like I said have met intelligent agency within most groups. I say most because I don't know them all.

Very true. It is a shame that we cannot all come here to help. I also am tired of all the ridiculous, and vulgar posts here. I don't answer a lot of those type of questions due to the fact they do not deserve an answer. Some people are looking for attention, and by answering vulgar and insulting questions you feed their egos. I would rather answer people that seem to be sincere in wanting to learn.

There is no reason for anyone to be calling names. This is a wonderful forum for Q & A, but you always have a few that have to be ugly to get the atttention they seek.

If I find a question truly offensive, off color in any way, it gets reported. This is no place to display ignorance, as most people that do this, are more than likely less intelligent. We will pray for them, how about that?

Yes, it gets tiresome seeing questions from people who obviously only want to shout their point of view at others. One look at the string of additional comments countering everyone who expresses a dissenting comment tells you what the real motive for asking the question - being right and making sure everyone knows it. It's hard to resist answering these "questions" just to tell off some opinionated jerk who actually could not care less about what you say unless you agree with him. Yes, it damages your credibility. It makes one look like an immature fool just looking for someone to congratulate him for being so smart. It makes the entire cause that you speak for look foolish as well. It's just one more case or example for stereotyping the whole group as fools.

I get a little tired of people telling me what I believe. Why do non mormons think they know more about my own beliefs than I do?
Oh that is right, I am just brainwashed and uneducated even though mormons tend to have higher levels of education then many other religious groups and are actually taught at a very young age to gain your own testimonies, never rely on the testimony of others and to pray and ask of God of ALL things to know for yourself if these things are right.

edward,
my comment wasnt directed at you so I hope you didnt think it was.
I was just getting annoyed at all the people answering recent mormon questions telling everyone what mormons believe when they were getting it all wrong just so they could bash on mormons.

I completely agree. I follow the belief that opinions are like butt holes everyone has one. and most stink lol. no but really who am I to say that anyone else's belief is wrong? who is anyone else to say that mine is wrong? there is really no point in arguing because until the end of time we will not know who is right with anything and by that time it doesn't matter. Therefore it is better to be respectful then to put someone down for their beliefs. Now pointing out someones incorrect facts is not wrong if you do it politely.

Truth is truth. If you happen to be "smarter" than someone why is it so rude to express the ignorance you see them ? If you converse with someone who is mentally impaired (retarded), you most certainly aren't going to ignor their limited capabilities are you ? A person's credibility has nothing to do with being direct and intelligent.

In today's world everyone goes around with this fake facade that we shouldn't hurt others feelings and even laws restrict people from expressing themselves truthfully. Has it helped society to do so ? Statisically, it has made for a more VIOLENT world we live in because many are not allowed to express TRUTH. Hurt feelings MATURE individuals, and those who are not as SMART, learn through others smarter than them to put out the efforts to gain some intelligence for themselves SO they will not be a positions of ignorance. The society we are building today HURTS more people than it helps for many don't even know how to express themselves "realistically" and is WHY many resort to violence or murder to resolve problems and this needs to CHANGE.....

Many forums call this character assassination or other similar titles. And many forums do not allow this to happen. Real debate does not.

The reason people do this, is if they can make the other person seem unworthy, then they can make themselves or others who are weak believe that their answer is not true.

Often its a form of self deception. It's quite common.

once I first examine this i improve into thinking "is that this made up?" It in basic terms is astounding to me that folk could undertake infants whilst they might extremely cope with their very very own. Why could you undertake infants basically to grant them up lower back or have hassle elevating them? They deserve greater beneficial than that and characteristic already been via adequate! Adoption isn't basically some casual selection you're making, you're no longer paying for a clean kitchen equipment, you're getting a individual, a toddler with plenty scars often and luggage! i in my opinion suspect you're a troll. it somewhat is in basic terms too ridiculous. i be conscious of you probably did no longer say you needed to grant them up---yet your motives for adopting have been impulsive and egocentric firstly. You did no longer think of this via needless to say. Why weren't you notified of their well being issues in basic terms before adopting? each so often the midsection in the back of something is physically powerful even yet it somewhat is not any longer what's terrific. you assert "previously we had lots of time for walks, play-dates, and so on." and you even RESENT those infants you chosen to undertake, once you ALREADY had 2 childrens! you basically predicted it to fall into place and be elementary? How naive are you able to be? you may desire to've made useful you have got dealt with your individual relatives and their desires previously adopting a sequence of two sons and daughters. those infants and your organic ones deserve the terrific they might get; there could have been lots of different households or childless those that could desire to have been greater beneficial than happy to undertake them. And yet you have been grasping to have greater childrens so which you accompanied them, thinking of the way it may make you happy and fulfill some longing of YOURS. infants are no longer a commodity. could no longer you basically been delighted with the oens you already had? human beings such as you sicken me.

Kudos. I enjoy intelligent conversation and debate based on 'solid' facts. The rest is indicative of the fall of mankind's morals and values.
