BA want to charge me 3000 pounds for 2 adults and 2 children to fly return to London (flight time 5.5h). I think this a tad over the top as a friend of mine has just booked a 10 day stay in Bali with hotel, flights etc.. for less. Can i lodge a complaint with trading standards via email?

Prices reflect the supply and demand situation at the time of booking, comparing your journey to someone who went to Bali is irrelevent because they were travelling to a different place at a different time so there is no comparison to be made.

first of all 1: where is the destination?
2: when are you wanting to go? as generally the nearer to your time of departure then the prices are more expensive.
3: did you choose the economy cabin to travel in?
4: how old are the children? as kids over 12 classify as an adult
5: did you book on ba.com or thru another agent or website?
you can get great package deals on ba.com with hotel included.

you cant complain for the price of the tickets as they are the price at the end of the day. But look at the questions i have given you and they may shed an answer to yours.

Good luck with the complaining. Just because your friend can go to Bali for cheaper doesn't mean that other people aren't paying that fare for your London trip. Your best way of complaining is to not buy the ticket.

I don't see how you can complain - they are telling you the orice up front before you buy and you are not forced to buy them.

Airline pricing is a mystery to me at the best of times - wait ten minutes and it will change. Stay over a Saturday and prices drop - why ?

In conclusion, I can't really see what you have to complain about. It's like complaning about the price of a Mercedes. If you don't want to pay it then buy a Mondeo.

Appears a few details are missing to give an answer to this one. But the price quoted looks more like Business class than economy, and therefore no complaints, people who fly Business or First Class don't ask how much they just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I think you can't make complain with that...
every airlines use their own rate...
and they will use their rate of course
so the best way you should do is never use their airlines again and tell all of your friend about that.
if you feel very disappointed you can make a blog or site that can compare their rate with the other. That of course will attack their perfomance directly
I think that the the only way you can do

Have you just tried to book this flight online? I have often found that prices quoted online for BA flights are horrendous, but if you phone them direct, you often find that they work out much cheaper!!

It's better to write to the national press with valid complaints.

I agree with Insensitively Honest.

If they try to rip you off, why you should bother to complain. Just fly another airline.

Of course, if this the only connection to your destination, you don't have that option.

airfares depend on availability. there are many different prices available for one aircraft, depending on loads, minimum and maximum stay, destination, season, advance purchase... try changing the dates around to get a cheaper fare.. but BA makes its own price. it's your choice to buy it or not.
