I have been dealing with severe pain 4 years. I'm on disability. I'm wanting to work. The DVR people say I can't work until I'm off pain meds and I have pain under control is that true? But I don't think they are sure about that.
I'm on a new drug, and I can function and take the narcotic - which was not true of oxycontin.

I believe the Disability Office has to clear you before you are able to return to work, since I am gathering that you are receiving Disability pay. Once you lose the Disability pay, it may be very difficult to retrieve it back, if that is the case with your situation. So, both you and the Disability Office need to be sure you are ready to go back to work.

I commend you for having the desire to want to get your life back on track and seek employment. You have to be sure that the meds you are taking will not impair your ability to drive, your motor skills, and ability to concentrate. All of which you need to hold a decent job, where you can be depended on.

When you apply , On the application ,
Note that you take prescribed meds ,
But really want to work .

Maybe the prospective employer will take notice and hire you .
Maybe landscape work or things that do not involve customer accounts or cash .

I don't know what type of work you are talking about. But you probably would not be allowed to operate heavy machinery. Even if you feel capable, it is just a precaution companies take to save their butts, should anything go wrong...

Probably they won't find out. Most companies do not do drug testing. You should be okay.
