When it was at puppy stage,It was being looked after by my daughter who had to go to office, leaving it alone. Is that the reason for its noisy behavior? What can be done to correct its behavior.

You don't say what type of spitz ... and there are multiple spitz breeds... some of which bark a LOT.

Consult a trainer for ideas on how to work with the barking. I have multiple tools I use when training not to bark but cannot make the best determination for your dog without seeing it.

Yes Spitz do bark. They were and still are used as a hunting dog. Using both scent and sight they would pursue and corner wild animals. They would then bark to call the human hunter. Also at one time they were used to hunt larger game such as bears. That's probably because they are such a fearless dog. They are a playful and affectionate breed but do need lots of exercise and are highly vocal.

Yes, I think Spitz have a reputation for being yappy. When does he bark the most? When he is alone, when people pass by the house? There's probably not much you can do about it. That is just how they are.

Some days my babies drive me nuts barking. I have a can and I added a handful of pennies and I shake it at them when they get to be too much. With a firm "NO" and they stop barking. I also keep a spray bottle filled with plain water and give them a squirt when they misbehave. BUT I never hit my precious babies.
