Monday night, I was involved in an accident on a Texas highway. I had pulled into the center lane and was yielding to the opposite lane of traffic to turn around and head southbound after I was traveling northbound. I drive, or did drive, a Ford F-150. A four door sedan hit me at approximately 55 mph in the turn lane, where I was quartered away, striking near the gas filler cap and leaving a huge dent that pushed the bed panel to the leaf springs, and I can't open the SuperCab door and the driver door won't completely close. State Troopers and a county sheriff's deputy arrived later, and never asked my side of the story. When asked to take a look at me, they shined a flashlight in my eyes and asked if I was on drugs or intoxicated, and walked off. Later, it was found I suffered a concussion. They then wrote me a citation for expired registration and said it was my fault before leaving. What should I do, because I plan on contesting this.

The gas filler cap is driver's side, approximately a yard from the end of the cab. Front of the rear tire.

You had to receive more than one citation. The expired plates had nothing to do with the accident. Not knowing where the gas filler is on your truck, I can't even picture where you were struck. If you could add this information into your question, I could give you a more detailed answer.

Your truck's registration was expired, It shouldn't have been on the road. If you were obeying the law you wouldn't have been in a position to be in an accident. Good Luck; you'll need it.

Registration has nothing to do with the accident. When they were investigating the accident apparently they found your registration has expired. Just pay it as you can't really contest that.

Was the registration expired?

If so, pay the ticket, because nothing you said here is a defense to the charge.

it was obvious you were at fault.if you were injured and needed care you should have told the officer. it is up to you to tell someone.when it is clear who was at fault they will not ask any questions.you should have had your registration up to date also.there is also no rebuttal for leaving.
