Why are you wanting to change ?
What is wrong with your current loan ?

Try not to entangle others in your debt .
When you flake on a loan , then they end up hating you because the lenders hound them for payment .
( And that really pissesss people off )

If you got one 3 years ago with sallie mae you won't be able to get a private loan today if your credit is bad without having a substantial increase in the interest rate, if you can get one at all.

Yes, you can if someone wants to back you up. You should know that the co-signer is taking the risk from you because if you are unable to pay the loan, the cosigner has the responsibility to pay all of the balance of the loan for you.

If you have not defaulted on the loan, then you can probably get a private loan, especially with a cosigner. That said, check out other options such as grants, scholarships, and federal student loans first.

If you have defaulted on the loan, then probably not.

You should really pay off your school loan. Getting another one is only going to make your bad credit worse.

If you have more than one loan from them, consolidate to save on your monthly payments and decrease the amount you are charged for interest.
