Sexual assaults on men are both under-prosecuted and under-reported. Sexual assaults on women are, for the most part prosecuted properly, but are also under-reported, but to a lesser extent.

i think they are all under-prosecuted for both men and women suffer and as for the laws right know well i am sad to say this but they are to weak and are not stoping the acts of sexual assaults at least not on the scale they need to be. i hope that in the near future the laws change to make it more affective and lower the number of attacks on every body men and women alike. the reason i feel this way is because i have heard of to many criminals commiting the same crimes time after time and the only reason i can see for this happening is they are not afraid of the law and as long as this is the case i do not see things getting much better

Until the last five or ten years cases involving male victims were under prosecuted more than those of women victims women. It has changed, prosecutors (they are the ones that make the decisions, not the police) have become more sensitive to all sexual assault cases. In most cases the reason was that the victim was not believed or the prosecutor felt that the cases could not be won in court because of public opinion.
Both are under reported with male cases leading the pack.

Of course they are! Many men would not admit it, and many woman don't want to go through the character assassination if they prosecute. It is terrible that many cases are never reported, or prosecuted.!
Heck, because of a bunch of hick coroners, especially in the south (many who are not even physicians) a lot of child murders do not get reported.
As a matter of FACT, not ONE child in this country has EVER died of child abuse! Go look at their death certificates. And you can thank the Medical profession for that one! They don't want to go to court!

I don't know about "under prosecuted". I think under reported is a better definition.

YES--UNDER REPORTED FIRST BEFORE BEING UNDER PROSECUTED BECAUSE:
AN ESTIMATED NATIONAL STATISTIC-ONLY ONE IN 1500 WOMEN REPORT A SEXUAL ASSAULT --THE FEAR OF BEING A WITNESS TO ID THE PERSON RETALIATION, BEING MADE A SPECTACLE OF RIDICULE, HAVING TO DEFEND ONES SELF AGAINST BEING LOOSE, SHE ASKED FOR AND GOT WHAT SHE WANTED, ETC ALL CONTRIBUTE TO WOMEN NOT REPORTING SEXUAL ABUSE
MEN ARE EVEN HIGHER BECAUSE OF THE STIGMA ATTACHED TO HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVITY AND HE WANTED IT-OR CONSENTED TO IT, OR WAS FORCED TO HAVE SEX WHICH MEANS HE WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO KICK BUTT AND GET LOOSE--THIS ACT BELITTLES A MALE--AS WELL AS A FEMALE
UNWANTED SEX IS MIND CONTROL OVER YOUR VICTIM AND LEAVES A SCARE OF FEAR AS WELL AS INVASION OF PRIVACY?
THINK ABOUT IT NOW FEAR OF SEEING THAT PERSON IS NOT AS BAD AS FEAR OF BEING PUT ON A WITNESS STAND AND BEING RUN THROUGH HELL ABOUT YOUR PAST LIFE AS A ???? IT IS EASIER TO THINK IT AWAY THEN FACE IT ALL OVER AGAIN IN A COURT OF LAW. THIS IS WHY SO MANY WOMEN WASH UP CLEAN UP AND FORGET ABOUT IT--
ONE YOUNG LADY TOLD ME THIS IN 1977 AFTER BEING RAPED BY THREE H/S FOOTBALL JOCKS--"THE SEX ONLY HURTS FOR A WHILE. THEY HAVE TO SEE ME EACH DAY, KNOWING WHAT THEY DID, THEN KEEP WONDERING IF I WILL EVER TELL ON THEM."--PSYCHOLOGICAL STANDOFF--DEFENSE MECHANISM-PRETTY SAD WHEN YOU STUDY IT IS IT NOT?
EVER SEE DELIVERANCE--?

Only when they are not reported.....Under the circumstances I would say women suffer more in silence than men because women are raped more than men......but then again maybe men just don't report it...
