1. the right is the tricuspid valve (the other one on the left is the mitral valve)

3. the natural pacemaker is the Sinoatrial node
4. cardiac output = *heart rate* multiplied by *stroke volume*
5. there's three types of heart tissue, endo-/myo-/epi- cardium. the middle one is... you guessed it, the myocardium.
6. deoxygenated blood has to go FROM the heart TO the lungs so it can pick up more oxygen. it does this by means of the PULMONARY ARTERY. this is the only artery that will carry deoxygenated blood. Remember: Arteries>Away from heart

7. deoxygenated blood is coming from the body to the right side of the heart via the vena cava (superior and inferior). it enters the right atrium, passes through the tricuspid valve to get into the right ventricle, then through the pulmonary valve to the pulmonary artery and towards the lungs (part of the pulmonary system). it is delivered to capillaries surrounding alveoli in the lungs where it picks up oxygen and gets rid of CO2 waste. once oxygenated at the alveoli, it travels back to the heart via pulmonary veins. it enters the left atrium, passes through the mitral valve to get into the left ventricle, through the aortic valve and then to the aorta where oxygenated blood will exhange oxygen with CO2 in tissues throughout the body. it thus becomes deoxygenated, veins combine to form vena cavae, and enter the heart to become oxygenated once more!
