I have excellent credit and wanted to apply for the best credit card out there. Is Capital One a good choice? Any good source to compare and apply online?

If you have excellent credit, Capital One offers many great credit cards that give you rewards such as cash back, airline miles or points which you can redeem for pretty much anything. They are especially famous for their no hassle miles card, as seen on TV. Capital One is also good for those who have limited credit (those who never had a credit card) or people with credit that needs improvement. I would say it's one of the best because there is a capital one card card for everyone.

According to last month's Consumer Report issue, Capital One was one of the lowest ranking credit cards in customer satisfaction. Basically it was a survey of dozens of credit cards from several thousand holders. That's not to say that Capital One is a bad card to have, just that there are other cards with higher customer satisfaction. Overall, the score was a 5 point scale from Unacceptable, Poor, Fair, Good, & Excellent, and Capital One rated in the middle, or Fair.

I really like Capital One. I personally have a Capital One and the church where I work uses Capital One to make purchases also. I have experienced excellent customer service with them, and they are quick to help out if your card or card number is stolen. Once they even called us about suspicious purchases before we even knew our card number had been stolen by someone. The pastor still had the card, but someone had gotten ahold of the number at a convention.
If you have good credit and plan to use the card and either pay it off monthly or make payments on time, then yes, I can highly recommend Capital One.

I don't have Capital One, however, they are commonly referred to ans crap one. Many people have problems with them from suddenly raising the interest rate (they periodically recheck you credit score and increase rates if your score has dropped) and poor customer service.
