If Jesus said in John 13-14, that whatever we ask in his name, he will do, doesn't that mean physical healing? Was he only talking to the disciples, or does that apply to us today? Cause if it does apply today, why don't we ever hear of healing without doctors?

Well, at my church there's like a list of about 20 people who have some kind of sickness/disease/cancer. Could they just be healed by asking in Jesus's name?

And I wouldn't ask for "stuff," like a puppy!
I'm talking about HEALING.

And what about eyesight? Like a fifth of all Americans can't see without contacts or glasses. Would God heal something like that, or is it just stuff that is life-threatening or that we can't fix ourselves?

I believe God meant that for us too. There are miracles that happen like people have said. Let me ask you this....if healing is to bring glory to God....would we do that or explain it away. For instance, my husband just had a heart cath. The doctor had done several tests....all of which pointed to a blockage. We were getting ready for open heart surgery. I asked for prayer on R&S....his heart cath turned out normal and he has not had chest pain since. Now, should I call that a miracle or a misdiagnosis? I called it a miracle. I think God would heal more if we had more faith and would honor Him more. I believe this is coming soon.

Healing miracles do still happen, and often. However, they don't happen so much at churches where the main prayer for the sick is, "Lord, give the doctors wisdom..." (know what I'm talking about?)
Here's the real issue, though: what does it mean to pray in Jesus' name? It means to pray the will of God. Obviously not every prayer we pray is answered, but the Lord's promises are true. If we every prayer we prayed that ended with "In Jesus' name" were answered yes, then we'd all be multimillionaires who look like Angelina Jolie, no? So what does that mean? It means that we often pray for our own desires rather than His, like this:
James 4:3
You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
Please don't think that I'm implying that peoples' physical health isn't something that is important to the Lord. But the Lord's primary goal for us is our salvation and then our sanctification. Sometimes we have to endure hardship to learn to really lean on Him and grow in sanctification. See what I'm saying?
Edit to say: The above answerer is right. Physical healing miracles not only don't make the news, they are often covered up! (Even by some Christians who would rather cover them up than change their belief that God no longer does such things). People are even still raised from the dead!
Again, though, I say, how often will this happen in a church that does not believe? I once heard a missionary say that in Africa where he ministers, they HAVE to pray for miracles, and they see them. He said that that's because they have no doctors, and no one to rely on but God.

I have seen people healed without any doctor being involved. A woman came to our church one night. She was a man who goes there cousin. She was in a wheel chair and could not walk. Her body was all twisted up. She got prayed for and she walked out of the church on her own two feet.
A woman died in our church. The paramedics were called and they could not revive her. They declared her dead and were in the process of removing her body. She came back to life.
I had asthma and allergies when I was younger. I could not even be near a cat. One night at service I was totally healed. I now have two cats.
A girl who I went to church with was hearing impaired. She could not hear unless you talked loudly and were close. One day my pastor prayed for her and she received hearing. She can now hear as normally as anyone.
There are more. Physical healing does occur. It just does not make the news.

There is healing all the time - with and without doctors.
I am around churches so I hear about it. People are prayed for and have unexplained healing. Have had a few at our church - including 2 cases of diagnosed cancer.

Do you remember the story of the "woman with the issue of blood"? She could not get to Christ and so she merely reached out, in the crowd and touched the hem of his cloak. Jesus felt the "power" go from Him and asked, "Who touched me?" It was the woman....Jesus said, your FAITH has healed you!
It is the faith of the person or, persons who are intervening. We are also told how important that faith is! "If you only had the faith of a mustard seed, you could move mountains." So, you see, it is a matter of faith in God, in His power to heal (if in His will) and faith that the prayer will be answered,....even if it is not the result we fully wanted.

Yes, because Jesus died we are able to receive healing. Sometimes it take awhile because we do not know how to receive it or our faith isn't able to accept healing. I have seen many healings and have been healed myself. Just keep seeking the Holy Spirit in this matter and He will show you what you need to know.

If you buy into the concept of the imortal soul then there can only be physical healing on this earth. But Jesus was speaking to all of us. Death is not the end. Physical healing will come, it just may not come until the resurection.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (New King James Version) †
Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24 (New King James Version) †
Jesus already healed you, but you have to believe that you are healed. †

i will think of of two Christian songs, yet they don't seem to be inevitably cutting-edge ones. One is (long call) "positioned your Hand interior the Hand of the guy from Galilee." greater of a people track. the different is greater non secular, the Prayer/Psalm of St. Francis "Make me a Channel of Your Peace." I remember making a song it in church. Neither point out actual ills precisely, yet the two communicate approximately putting have faith interior the Lord to triumph over subject. advantages!
