If you can't afford the necessities....don't have them.

If you can't give them the things they need I think people should wait.

Needs and wants aren't the same thing.

I don't think any one is really able to afford a child....as in keeping their life styles up and having a child. If everyone waited to have kids on their money situation to get better no one would every have kids. I wanted to wait till my credit card was paid off and I was out of school to have kids but it didn't happen that way. Doesn't mean that I can't afford to have one it just means I need to look at what I really spend my money on and change my lifestyle to fully support raising a child. Also just because me and my husband doesn't make a whole lot of money doesn't mean we are going to be unfit or be bad parents I will love my kids no matter if I have to work 3 jobs to just buy food to feed them or not work at all and be worth 5 million.

Untrue, parents who are fiscally responsible enough to want to raise children without have to ask for assistance are just as likely to be good parents as any other person. In fact they may be better parents than those who don't bat an eye and let the nanny raise them.

Now I don't mean to imply that those asking for assistance aren't good parents, I have a friend who runs a daycare and husband works two jobs and still have to ask for assistance and they are fantastic parents, who also are concerned for those in the daycare and don't take the ma kids when she could, to make sure they are getting they best care.

Now I will say that for those who think they can't afford children so don't have them, don't know what their missing!

I think the problem is that the government will pick up the tab for the delivery room, school, and so on. If they had to give birth in the street, people would think twice about family size. In countries like Belize where education is required by law, but the government will not pay for it, people have fewer children, and almost no unplanned pregnancies.

I know where your coming from there are a lot of women having children that cannot afford them and dont want to change their lifestyle to be able to provide for them. So no these people should not have children.
but on a whole you dont have to be rich to have kids you just have to sort out your priorities and your number one priority should be your child.

Nope, because a loving a supportive home doesn't always mean one with money. I've seen poor families who are much better off as a family than rich ones simply because they are more loving, giving and supportive of one another.

No. The amount of money one has is irrelevant to the amount of love one has for their child. Yes, it can be tough if finances are strapped... but money is not what makes a good home, it is the people inside the home that are important.
