Has anyone ever been a member of a board? What are they really looking for? Especially with integrity questions... What would you do if you saw your Training Officer steal something? If you pulled your uncle over for drunk driving, would you arrest him?

ME... I would tell my training officer I it was f'ed up for him to steal it.
- I would have someone come pick up my uncle.

BUT, what do they want to hear?

Also, I have to prepare a presentation on what I think to be a serious problem in my community. I am incredible busy with my two babies and work and hardly have time to keep up with problems in my community. I focus on news on a wider scale. Anyone have any ideas that I should focus on? Once I get that direction, I will be good to go... I just need that guidance.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!

My answer to the first question would be: If I just saw what I thought I saw then you need to pt it back or I will have to go to our CO and have him or her look into it.

The second answer would be no one is above the law a crime is a crime so yes I would arrest him for DUI if it came down to it.
They want honest answers if a judge got pulled over for DUI they want to hear that you would make the arrest.

If you saw your training officer steal something-you must confront him to ensure that you aren't misreading the situation in any way, then you are bound to report it.
Regarding the drunken uncle- The right answer would be if
possible call another officer to take over the stop due to a possible conflict of interest which could affect the prosecution of the case, if that's not possible then you have to arrest him-if he he was really a good guy to start with he wouldn't be putting you in that position by driving drunk in your patrol area.
Never say you would falsify a record or lie under oath. Integrity is taken very seriously, and so is chain of command, so say you would follow departmental procedures in reporting misconduct.
I don't know what kind of community you live in so I'm not sure what problems you should focus on.
Quality of life issues are usually a good bet. If there is a neighborhood that is having sever problems, a multi jurisdictional approach-building inspectors and fire inspectors for safe housing, citizen watch groups, sponsored
graffiti clean up, street cleaning, anonymous tip lines re drugs and violence. Try to involve citizens and make them vested in their community. I read some cities are mobilizing grandmas to work for safer neighborhoods, they do a lot of the child rearing since the inner cities have lost a whole generation to crack.

try really hard no to sweat.they are looking to see how you handle things under pressure.integrity in a officer has really gone down since hiring standards were lowered.you can lose your job if you saw it and did not report it.i am never going to lose my jon over what someone else has done.if you pulled your uncle over you would be taken off the stop. those type cases are given to people who are not family members.the boards wants you to be honest. they do not always want the standard answer.we had a civilian officer who was taking the deputy test. he passed everything and it came down to the oral board.i talked with him a few days before the board met.he passed the board and was sent to the academy. with about 2 weeks in the academt he was arrested for theft and dwi.with all that hard work he just blew it away.you do not have to have a shirt and tie. just dress nicely and wear a sports coat. make sure your shoes are shined.you also do not have to have the military haircut. just make sure your hair is off the collar and not over your ears.i was a instructor at out academt for 12 years.

THE ORAL BOARD IS AN OLD TERM USED BEFORE FEMALES WERE INTERVIEWED AND CONNOTES A SEXUAL OVERTONE SO IT NOW A PERSONNEL SELECTION BOARD.

THE BOARD IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL TELL THEM THE TRUTH. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE ANSWER DO NOT TRY TO BULLS---THEM, TELL THEM YOU DO NOT KNOW.

TWO QUESTIONS YOU HAVE POSED COULD BE ASKED TO SEE WHAT YOU WOULD SAY-AS LONG AS YOU JUSTIFY IT LOGICALLY.

IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR COMMUNITY???YOU ARE RAISING TWO CHILDREN TO GROW UP IN A SAFE ENVIORNMENT--YOU HAVE A COMMUNITY WATCH? BLOCK WATCH? WHITE MIDDLECLASS SUBURBAN? CITY COMMUNITY WITH BLOCKED GUARDS AT THE GATES?? YOU HAVE TO READ THE PAPERS AND ABOUT CRIME AND DRUGS AND GANGS AND OJ??IF NOT WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A POLICEMAN?
