I know there are many words for "stupid."

In my freshman German class, I was told by my teacher that if you are calling someone stupid (so a person), then you are supposed to use "dumm."

I.E.
Du bist dumm.
Not
Du bist blöd.

So today in my sophomore German class, the sentence was "He is stupid."
My teacher wrote "Er ist blöd."
So I asked about whether or not you can use blöd to describe a person.

So basically, what's proper? Does it not matter? Was my first teacher right?

In English - stupid can mean at least two things - 1: not intelligent and
2: silly/dopey/illadvised

A smart person can do something stupid - but in some senses, a stupid person just a low IQ. Certainly there is overlap between the various senses, but you see what I mean.

The words dumm and bloed are similar. There is some overlap, and they can be used interchangeably sometimes, but I think they have slightly different senses.

Dumm would more likely be used to be unintelligent.

Bloed would be more likely used to mean dopey/silly/illadvised/uncool - that kind thing.

The difference is the same as it is in English
dumm is dumb and blöd is stupid.

you can use both for people. your freshman teacher probably just didn't want you using the word 'blöd' yet.

Geht skill "is going", the 0.33 individual singular of "pass". "Wie geht es Ihnen?" is "how is it going for You?" (i will capitalize You to characterize formal Sie, ok?) actually it might want to be How is going it for You? Wie geht's is only short for Wie geht es?, for this reason the apostrophe. For the casual version, you do not might want to assert "for you"--yet you are able to, in which case this is Wie geht es dir? In both case this is the dative version of you (You). Es geht is quite the minimum reply, really you're slightly ok. you are able to sound extra proper with Es geht mir gut, for instance.
