I am traveling to NYC next month by plane and wanted to get to Poughkeepsie by train. Does anyone know how much that would cost or is there a better way of transportation?

$17 each way Peak (rush hour), $12.75 each way all other times. Buy your tickets in Grand Central Station before leaving, else you will pay extra fees for purchasing them from the conductor.

Amanda's dead on. The only hitch you'd have would be getting from the airport to Penn Station to get the train. The only "better" way would be to fly into Stewart Airport in Newburgh, which is 30 minutes from Poughkeepsie by car.

There is BUS service from J.F.K. Penn Station and Amtrak rail To Poughkeepsie. Shouldn't be more than 40 dollars one way. Check a schedule.
