Stupid job has got me working such awkward shifts. They always end up ending 1AM, and starting 7AM? I don't even know, but I only get 3-5 hours of sleep...

I'm wondering how this could affect me in the long run?

From what I hear, getting only four to five hours sleep is not enough. Over the long term it can have an affect on your health. Take better care of yourself. You are more important than that job that is robbing you of your sleep.
Maybe you can find another job. Good Luck

I think that it can't be good for you in the long run. Is this the only job available? If I were you, I would look at getting a different job and having more regular hours. I also wonder if this is legal for an employer to do this long term to employees. It seems that it has some major health concerns. What about driving to and from work and being alert? What do you do? It doesn't require you to be alert? And, if so, how do you do that?

I work nights too and also suffer from this same problem. I tried all the things you did. I tried the fan, leaving the TV on, lots of goofy stuff. I guess we just get so tired we can't fall asleep. What I found that works best for me is Tylenol PM and reading. I didn't think that was a good idea at first because I didn't want to depend on Tylenol ( i think i spelled that wrong) but after about a week I got used to going to sleep during the day. Now I don't have a problem. Its something you have to make a habit. Kind of train your body to do.Hope this helps

No that is not good. You should quit your job or ask for different more friendlier shifts. You will end up run down and depressed. Don't risk it!
