I am only asking because it shows the scripture for them in verse 30.

verse 30 says that when resurrected we will be like the Angels and will not marry. verse 29 is saying that those who questioned Jesus were to ignorant of God and the scripture to understand this.

The verse you reference follows:
Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said to them, You err, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.
Mat 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in Heaven.

The Pharisees were trying to trick Jesus with their arguments. There is no marriage in heaven, no husbands, no wives.

The power to God is in reference to the resurrection.

The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection and so they came up to Jesus with a hypothetical situation where a woman was married to seven brothers one after the other. They asked - "In the resurrection whose wife will she be?" Thus they hoped to discredit the whole idea of resurrection.

Jesus' reply was they do not marry in the resurrection thus disposing their case altogether. This is where Jesus tells them they did know the power of God (that He can raise the dead).

It means that all of those marriages were unions that weren't bound in heaven, but rather just by the laws of the land. Man's contracts are binding in life, but only God's covenants are binding in death.

The Saducees were very "sad you see" because they did not believe in the power of God to ressurect the dead . Because they did not have the spirit of God in them they therefore did not interpret the scriptures correctly and consequently they did not believe in the ressurrectuion of the dead. So they were very sad .. you see?

No meaning. A wife is not needed in heaven.
