that is an excellent point. what these people dont realize is that not even st paul knew for certain that he was "saved". He said what if I preach the word but for myself is to no avail? That dont sound like the writter of the scripture believed he was saved as tho it were a done deal. In fact he never claimed being saved until his eminent death was at hand, and he said "I have run the race to the finish line"
People seem to intrepret the bible to whatever makes them feel good. But it is not reality.

"As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5–8), but I’m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9–10, 1 Cor. 3:12–15). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13)."

How is it arrogant to trust someone else enough that you believe what they tell you? I trust God enough that I believe Him when He says in the Bible that His Son's righteousness will get me to heaven if I accept the gift He has offered me and believe on Him? I didn't just make this stuff up on my own. *THAT* would be arrogant. I'm just taking God at His word. That's not arrogant.

The essence of Christianity is that you recognize that you are so poor, needy and blind that you *cannot* save yourself. Jesus has to save you. How is that arrogant?

How would that be arrogant and prideful? The Bible tells us how we are to be saved, and we know when we are. That is a fact. We don't run around town announcing it to everyone, saying , "I'm saved and your not, na na na na na na!!!" That would be arrogant and prideful. Nice try, though.
God Bless!

I guess one could have an attitude about going to heaven that could be sinfull. For instance if one thought they were superior to the unbelievers. I am a Christian and I have seen this attitude on here from a few other Christians.

It might be arrogance and pride if I thought I did something to gain it or earn it, but it is all of God, I did nothing to gain it.

1Jn 5:13 I wrote these things to you, the ones believing in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have everlasting life, and that you may believe in the name of the Son of God.

No one is truly saved till he reaches heaven. How can there be pride before reaching heaven?

The key lies in constant distrust of self and trust in Jesus. No one can boast since it is the work of Jesus and not ours (Eph. 2:9).

I don't know if that a lone would disqualify you, but if you turned back to your old ways, and didn't take your being saved seriously that could probably do it.

What you interpret as arrogance and pride I call confidence and surety, big difference.

It is a joy to proclaim that knowledge.
John 1:12 - 13 "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God -- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God."
