I have suffered with severe depression, mania, ocd, and bipolar for a long time and have been on all kinds of meds. Nothing has helped. The Doctor is thinking about putting me on Seroquel. How good is that medicine for anyone who is/has taken it? Thank you!!

The link is to one of the best websites on medications for various flavors of crazy. The info is solid with links to manufacturer PI sheets and studies, plus the info is in real English. The talk board is only about medication. It has a lot of folks with bipolar and there's a section on Seroquel.

I took up to 150mg, not that high of a dose. It helped, but I ran into side effect issues (serious congestion). I do know of a few people who really like it. By far, the biggest complaint I've ever heard is sedation.

Everyone responds differently to the various meds. Seroquel isn't any better than the others. However, many of my patients on Seroquel experience impotence so be on the look out for that. Have you tried Lithium? That is the most effective drug for what you are describing.

I don't believe you should ask people's opinions. If your doctor thinks Seroquel may help try it. Try it with an open mind. If you benefit from Seroquel than you know it works for you, right ?

I was using Seroquel for sleep. I don't know how effective it is for other symptoms, but it very effective for sleep.
