I totally agree, that's almost like having a disease and dying from it....you don't go to "hell" for that...people don't understand that mental illness is a disease like any other. But I soo agree with you.

Suicide is not a unforgivable sin, but it is a permanent ending. I have a very good friend who is in high crisis right now and I think about her all the time. I know what it would do to me and the other people who care about her if, and when, she finally succeeds in ending it all. I am afraid every day that I am going to get the call about her.
I know that there comes a time in some peoples life where the thought of ending it all seems to be the only way out of a bad situation, being it mental illness or another life impacting situation. The reason I know this is because the thought crosses my mind more regularly then I confess to most. It is at those times that if I have no will to survive for myself that I make myself keep going because of others, and eventually I am happy I did.
One thing I don't agree with is that most of us lose control over ourselves, I believe that most of us lose the will to control ourselves and are just sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Suicide is not the unforgiveable sin. But, it is sin. You do go to hell for that. Find it in the Bible and read what God says about it.
Mental illness isn't a sin. That's a chemical mix up in the brain. There are medications that can bring those chemicals back into check.
Suicide is very much Controllable. If you're having thoughts of that, I suggest you call a Christian Counselling Hotline. They will work with you and help you to get the help you need to stop entertaining those thoughts. Those thoughts are from the devil himself. Trust me. I've been a Christian for many years. I've done suicide prevention councelling. No one's followed through on my watch.

i think ur really reflecting on some deep stuff here... i believe that there is no hell other than the hell that's here on earth and that nothing is unforgivable. smoking is a suicide just like jumping off a building just like never exercising and living the McDiet. it comes down to taking responsibility. i have close personal experience with family with mental illness and it's always a choice. i know that sounds harsh, but some choices we make consciously and some unconsciously. thank God for other people cause we can't always see or figure out what's best for ourselves.

I sooo agree with you. It's a choice we make in regards to suicide but if are brains are not working properly in the first place why must we condemn the sick even more, why tell a suicidal person that because they don't think like them they're going to hell??? Good Question. I'm totally with you on this. I quit smoking 3 3/4 years ago would that not make me go to heaven.??

Yes it is a mental illness, but as it says in the bible, through god anything is possible. By killing yourself your giving up, no matter what the circumstances are. I know you might think that i dont know anything about things like depression and suicidal thoughts etc. But i have had and am still very depressed and its extremely hard for me to do anything. I dont care very much for things as much. Its extremely hard for me to concentrate. I dont really like to talk to people, so i keep very few friends. And suicide always seems to be there tempting me. But i believe even if this goes on for a while longer that i will not commit suicide, becuase i know no matter how bad it can get, i can get through it with gods help. even though its very hard sometimes still to convince myself. sorta strayed off topic there srry.
And so if you kill yourslef your just goving in to the temptation.
p.s. in response to one of the comments. hell is very real. its talks about it alot in the bible, and there woudnt be any justice without it. Youd have to be very ignorant to deny this fact, and still say you believe in the bible.

I do believe that the only unforgiveable sin is denying God and proclaiming to others that he doesnt exist. Other than that, i think that all other sins are forgiven by jesus's sacrifice on the cross for everyone's sins. at least that is what i understood from the bible. i agree that suicide is a forgivible sin, as well is dying from lung cancer from smoking.

I dont really think people that committ suicide go to hell. I think they did not get help in time. My mother once said to me when I threatened that as a teenager, "If you die tommorrow because you have taken your own life, You will never see a green tree again or smell a beautiful flower". Whenever I hear someone even thinking that way that thought comes to my mind and how it helped me.

You know, I can see how it's difficult to understand.
Just by thinking what a sin is - doing something contrary to the will of God, when you know better, you understand that a sin depends on our accountability, or knowledge of right and wrong.
Mentally ill people aren't capable of fully understanding or controlling behavior. If God would punish them for things they don't understand, that wouldn't be a very loving God, would it?
I know that God loves us more than that. We know that He loves us. In John 3:16, we know that God loved us enough to send His own son as a sacrifice for us. If we follow Jesus and live according to the commandments of God, we are forgiven for our sins - for the things we did wrong, knowing that it was not a good choice.
God will be fair in His judgment of us. He will not punish anyone for something that was outside of his or her ability to comprehend, or to make the right choice. He will be fair, and He will because He loves us. We should do our best to live the commandments and let our light so shine.

Yes I agree wholeheartedly with you.
I have often thought along similar lines as you.
God knows our individual circumstances and feels our hearts cry.
Whereas in smoking or drinking/drugging your way to death, people may have the ability to stop, with Gods help.
But, what I think allot of people don't realize is the hardships others with personality disorders and clinical/mental problems, it is much more difficult and our Loving Heavenly Father knows!*
