I have yet to read that one!
Although in the old testament there is dress codes for praying in Leviticus. Woman should wear prayer scarves that cover their head and shoulders...

I asked a similar question a while back. I had some pretty serious replies (bad). The only thing I have found is something to the effect of women should not wear clothing that pertains to a man. Women should dress modestly. If she has short hair she is to cover her head when she prays. That is all that I have found on the subject. By the way, when studying the cultural dress of the Bible era, men wore dresses and women wore pants with a gown or robe over it. The pants were similar to the pants worn in the show I Dream of Jeanie.

There is nothing that says a women must wear skirts. It does talk about modesty, and not dressing like the opposite sex. It also talks of hair length, head covering, etc. I myself only wear skirts. My husband prefers it, being more lady like, and its actually much more comfortable. You can read 1 Corinthians for more information.

In Bible times men wore the tunics or sheath dresses. Women did not wear skirts in Bible times.

I think this is me I believe that God wants men to dress as men and women to dress like women so when you look you can tell which sex it is. Peace and God bless

Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD they God.

The scripture most often used to argue that women must wear dresses or skirts is where it forbids people to dress in clothing intended for the other sex. Since "pants" were designed for men, they argues, it was wrong for women to wear them.

The intend of that scripture was not to dictate fashions, but to condemn cross-dressing - making yourself up as the other gender for sexual kicks.

If you read the entire Bible, and not just one verse, the standard given is that people are to dress "modestly". That means in a way that appropriate to the time and culture in which they live, and not designed to cause sexual desires in others.

Can you dream about something else Lil Dreamer? What would ever make you think that it says anything about girls having to wear "skirts" in the Bible?

1 Timothy 2:9 talks of modest apparel.
Deuteronomy states of not wearing clothes meant for the opposite sex.

Just throwing this out there-
Women wore skirts and dresses until the 1960's. Why did their apparel change and what coincided with this?

Not a chauvinist, just wondering why this happened...
