for some strange reason both my dvd player and hdtv tuner box both show wierd colors. receiver mostly blue with red and my dvd player all red but if I hook up either one with composite or s-video then the picture is fine.
I've tried different component wires all with the same result AND my xbox using component displays all the colors correctly. Anybody know why?

TV is Toshiba 27" flat screen analog w/ colorstream component output

by the way, the hdtuner box says tv must be
“digital compatible” (i.e., it must have appropriate audio and digital
videoterminals). It does have component outputs. Is that what this is saying?

Make sure that if your TV does not support progressive input, nether the DVD player or the set-top are set to output progressive.

Did you try to connect the Greens only (Y)? You should see black and white only. If you can't see b/w picture with green only, there is no correct sync.

Your DVD player may not be able to output both s-video and component at the same time. You may have to go to a setup menu to select component output. If the screen is a solid blue, that means the TV is getting no signal.

The pink, white, and yellow RCA cable is named composite. factor is the pink, blue, and green video cable. yet making use of an S-Video cable might provide you a larger image than while making use of a pink, white, and yellow composite cable. yet you will would desire to have a seperate audio cable, while making use of purely S-Video by myself, considering the fact that S-Video isn't audio, purely video. yet making use of the pink, blue, and green factor video cable, with a seperate audio cable, provides you with the suited image.
