Witches: do you feel the veil thinning? How do you sense it when it is happening?

Hi Sissy,
Very strange this year as it has started quite a bit earlier than I can remember.
I notice my energy level is doubling, yet I feel peaceful. The winds have picked up earlier and I 'feel' more people around me than there are in the physical. I have this intense sense of 'something exciting coming', like an event. Nothing I've had before.
The nights that felt calm seem to move into greater activity as if a new day dawning. I find I am preferring to stay up late into the night by myself with my 'tools' to absorb the sacredness of this most precious time. There is more life in the nights than in days. And I find many ('others') are all of a sudden speaking of those from their 'past'.
For myself I feel an ancient tribal instinct to dance with the spirits that feel so near and communicate.
There seems to be more 'life' in the air. I'm ultra sensitive to every little movement around me. My intuition is sharp. My dreams are becoming more profound and lucid and I am sensing a pull on me from..........? Looking forward to discover who.
My familiar is acting different, wanting our morning walks in the forest around 3am instead of 6. Nature is wilder, more animals.
The list goes on and on this year but it is all so profound.

For some reason that I have yet been unable to determine, the veil is going to be VERY thin this Samhain. Maybe it has to do with the Harvest moon occuring so close to Mabon but the energies are much stronger this year than I have EVER felt. It's as if the ancestors have ALL joined forces to try and get some important message through to us. this Samhain may be the most auspicious time for divination every in a very long time. The ari is TO crisp, the northern lights too bright and shimmery, the plants and animals too alert and active for the season. There IS something amiss and mysterious about this year that has us ALL on extra sensitivity. Something unusual is occurring and WE, as Witches NEED to concentrate with ALL of our abilities to find out what the message or messages is/are. For the Veil to be this thin before Mabon is a MOST unusual happening and it requires our CLOSE attention.

Thanks to the posters who gave so much information about Wicca - a subject I know little about.
Being Down Under in Oz I'm assuming "the veil thinning" is a seasonal happening that I'm currently at the other end of - my equivalent 'veil thinning' happened/will happen in March.

I became more self-aware in my mid30s and noticed that toward the end of the year I seemed to become more unravelled and scattered - I could never figure if it was because it was the end of year or the fact my birthday is 1-1 or, as a Vietnam veteran, I’m just another nutter. :)

As it's said, it's in the air. You'll feel it within yourself, sometimes it's an unexplainable situation. Your senses widen, your perception increases and you are open and inclined to receive messages. In a few weeks the veil will disappear for a short span but it's already thinning. Be careful, you should only cast protection spells and those to increase your psychich abilities, do not harm anyone, you know the rule. Soon it will be the week of the Dark Moon, it's nothing to be afrid of, we come into contact with different dimensions. Stay positive and wish for the better to happen.

Yes sister.. It has begun early this year. I have never experienced it before Mabon before.....For some reason I sense that it will be ultra thin at Samhain. Why? I am trying to determine that but so far no luck.
How do I sense It?? That is hard to put into words. I spend a lot of time aside in my gardens and very large yard. The sensation begins there weeks before Samhain. A change in the air, the way the sun light or moon light dances in the trees, the sounds of nature change becoming deeper until the deepest ones become almost a vibration in the ground and the air around me, the look in the eyes of my pets and the wild animals that live near me, the change in the movement of the birds in the air. There is so much that I sense when it begins to thin.....I can't describe all of it. I respond to it with urges to finish the harvest quickly, draw my family near and strengthen the protection spells on my property and for my family. Not in fear but in preparation for Samhain......A turning of the wheel of life is a powerful event and demands respect and preparation......email me if you want to discuss it more in length....Blessed Be sister... I don't know that I "believe in your beliefs," but I do feel the veil thinning every year from about this time through November. I mainly experience an increased sense of connection with the spirit of others, either physically present in this time and place, or far away either physically or temporally.

I'm not a witch, but am always learning about other people's religions and beliefs. I don't know what "thinning of the veil" is, but will check back for others who will answer you, so I can learn about it.
