The bottom line on weight loss is....in order to lose weight you have to consistently supply your body with less calories than it needs on a daily basis.
You can eat 3 meals or 10 meals...but if you are eating too many calories, you will gain weight, not lose it.
The reason 5-6 smaller meals is better for you is because it helps to supply the body with a constant stream of energy. You know how you can get shaky between meals because you're hungry? It's because your blood sugar has dropped and your body thinks it's starving. Having smaller meals more often will help even out your blood sugar fluctuations and keep hunger at bay.
But remember...even if you can eat 5-6 meals, it's the calories that count in the end.
If you can't fit 5-6 meals into your schedule, bring snacks with you to hold you over between your larger meals.

This is just a guess, but I think the 5-6 meals a day theory is so you never get too hungry and you never eat too much. So keep an eye on your calories, and if you can, eat your lightest meal at the end of the day. So eating at 8 p.m. could be a problem, so don't have a big meal and try not to eat beef. You could have chicken and broccoli or a snack of apples, carrots, bananna, yogurt, water. but you do exercise at the end of the day. Just take it easy and good luck. Sounds like you are doing great.

The 6 meals a day has more to do with stabilization of blood sugars and keeping your body out of "Starvation" mode.
If you eat 2 to 3 meals, your body can store more calories as fat. Eating 6 small healthy meals tricks your body into believing it will have constant nourishment, so it retains less calories as fat.
One thing you can do is get some meal replacement bars. Eat half for one meal and the other half for another. That will get your 6 meals in and keep those blood sugars stabilized.
People need to read up on the body for life diet.
Good luck.

If you're having 3 meals a day already, the other two meals can be as simple as a granola bar, a piece of fruit, etc. Good rule of thumb is as long as you are not starving during any part of the day (except when you wake up for breakfast), you should be OK. A little hungry is fine, that's when I usually pick up that granola bar! And make sure you are drinking a lot of water. Sometimes when you think you're hungry for a snack (and you give in) all you needed was a glass of water b/c you were dehydrated.

Yes, but eating 5-6 meals isn't hard. Bring a banna and a bagel to eat for a meal or two and throw in a protein shake. They can each be broken up to have three more small meals. They are very portable. This will help keep your metabolism working at its maximum potential if you eat 5-6 small meals a day.

Oh yeah, your gonna lose weight..
but it does depend on the weight your at already too though. I always heard that the closer you are to the weight your supposed to be the harder it is to lose the little that's left. But with your exercise routine I dont think you have a problem.
Good luck!

You can still lose weight that way. It is quicker the other way. When you eat five or six smaller meals in a day it keeps your metabolism up and there are not any slumps in it like there are when you don't eat. Watch what you eat.

try and eat like a gronolla bar or something before band or marching. Anything in your system is better to keep the metabolism up. Try and eat like an apple, granolla bar, or other piece of fruit between meals, or during a break period in school, and that will be enough to keep the metabolism up and keep you burning fat. Good luck.

You don't HAVE to eat 5-6 meals a day, especially if it's difficult to fit into your lifestyle. When it comes down to it, it's always calories in vs. calories out. Just watch what you eat, exercise, and you'll be fine.
