It makes a lot of sense. A gun just lying around isn't going to go off and kill someone. What they're saying is people who have a gun and pull the trigger while meaning to harm someone is what kills.

Japan has the highest suicide rate in the world and they have no guns! You see people really do kill people, I've never seen a gun get up and kill somebody. Get rid of all guns and the murder rate will likely even go up. Because that just sends us back to the dark ages when the strong ruled the weak. If only we could go back to the golden days of knives and swords women would be so much better off. Remember the gun was considered the "great equalizer" and a very good thing.

Some people have used their automobile as a weapon. Deliberately ran over a target human being with the intent to kill. Such actions have been big television news. News flash....."Many pedestrians killed as wild eyed driver runs over many walking on sidewalk"
If our guns are taken away, legislators might as well take everything that can kill. Hey, even a wooden spoon could kill if in the wrong hands. A sissy pacifist would allow a spouse to be raped while they shook in fear waiting for the police to arrive. Then after the crime has been committed, the anti-gun victim is bewildered, pondering what words could have been said to comfort the criminal and save the spouse. Don't forget to pass the criminal a flower as you witness the vicious moment, all the while whining about bad ol' guns. Also explain to the criminal how people are not responsible for their actions when using any weapon. Try not to hurt the criminals feelings as you make excuses for his actions, he might beat you senseless with a lamp shade, or smother you with a pillow. Those objects can also be mindless killers you know!

Are you telling me the guns the Virginia Tech shooter did the work by themselves? Like a gun is going to get up on it's own and shoot someone. My gun tries to kill me all the time. I have it locked up at all times, but I hear it banging around the safe trying to get out to kill me. Please. People can kill people without guns as well.
The places with the toughest gun control also have the highest crime rate. Think about that.

Well, while individuals with guns can sometimes kill other individuals, nothing matches the carnage of government killing unarmed persons.
Just look at the genocide in Europe in the last century, or in Africa in recent years.
The importance of having guns is to act as a check and balance against tyranny. If our three-branch government somehow fails the people, then theoretically, the people can take up arms to regain their freedom.
Happened in 1776, could happen again. The socialist Left in America appears far more oppressive than the Brits from the 18th century.

jiveman.. you need to look at reality.. most of the people with guns who kill people are going to kill anyway.. the guns don't pick themselves up and shoot.. most of us who own guns..don't kill other humans with them.. idiots who have no humanity kill each other.. and if they did not have guns.. they would do it with a bat or axe or knife or anything else the can find.. killing is easy for some people.. and it doesn't matter what their skin color is.. but it is just so prevalent..in some societies that it seems to make a good argument to get rid of the guns.. I for one.. support the association..

It makes a LOT of sense. Basically it's saying that if you have a gun sitting on a table, it's not going to harm anyone just lying there. A gun is only a weapon once someone intends to use it as one. It is ultimately our choice to chose whether or not guns kill or not...

Wow - you really have only one string on your harp, don't you ?
Ultimately, guns are nothing but lumps of metal- just like cars
and knives and softball bats...all can harm or kill, but without human intervention
they do NOTHING.
It's the people, stupid... or, in this case it's the stupid people.
