This can be the result of allergies or pink eye. If there is a bump in your eyelid this can occur because of a condition called chalazion. This occurs because of blocked pores in your skin near your eyelid. This can also be the result of cellulitis of the eye. Usually with cellulitis of the eye a fever follows. Both of these can be treated with antibiotics.

I have eczema on my eye lids. My Dr. believes its caused by allergies, possibly due to my make up or something in the air at this time of year. My eyelids are inflamed from now until usually May or June. It sucks. I use hydro-cortisone cream on mine. Maybe this is your problem too. Be sure to check with your Dr. b4 applying anything to your eyelids, as hydro-cortisone cream can cause glaucoma if used too long or more than 1%. Good Luck;) Hope yours doesnt last as long as mine!!!

this means that you probably have some sort of eye infection. don't worry though- it should clear up in about a week with antibiotics. see a doc in the next couple days if it doesn't get any better
