... permission to visit the site of the World Trade Center in NYC in order to lay a wreath at the site during his visit to UN HQ. The White House has stated that the decision lies with city of New York which has denied the request on the grounds that the site is under construction as well as the act would constitute a security risk. The White House states further, though, that (paraphrased) it is odd that a state sponsor of terrorism would want to visit the site of such terror.

What do you think about this?

This may fit better in Politics or some other forum but the issues here are interwoven with religious ones. Plus, the people on R&S seem to be more lively. :D

Those of you who say that he has declared "death to America" or something similar, could you please provide either a quote with source or a link? I'm not saying you're wrong but I am not aware of any explicit threats from Iran against the US.

Common_sense... I'm not aware of any "cartoon contest". They did host a convention last year (I believe) on Holocaust denial.

Umm. Yogi. Ahmadinejad became the president of Iran in 2005 so, presumably, "he" could or would not have sent a wreath as a gesture from his country.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has requested to burn in hell for all eternity, even though he is unaware of his request. However, I am certain this request will be fully honored.

It would be an affront to both the living and the dead to allow such an act to be commited.

Iran has a long history of supporting islamic terrorism. mahmoud himself is a hair away from being a terrorist himself.

Wasn't iran the country that sponsored the cartoon contest to "prove" that the holocaust never happened?

NO! I wouldn't even let him set FOOT inside the U.S. ... unless it was to put his butt in prison.

It is very good of him to suggest such an idea. We have to honor the innocent dead, and show the world we are against the Al-Queida terorists and such evil people. God bless him. He has more honor and sense than Bush the donkey.

I would be concerned that someone might get through security and do something terrible somewhere. I don't know if his intentions are good or not. The way things are in this world you have to be very cautious of everything. Peace and God bless

Hell No. He should not be allowed in the US for any reason. He has made it plain that his greatest desire is to destroy Israel and the US. He wants to come for a photo op that he will undoubtedly exploit and use in his hate filled propaganda campaign against us.

it is a pollitical move. he is trying to appear as the reasonable one, and make us appear as the bad guy by denying his request.

if he wanted to send a wreath,

HE SHOULD HAVE DONE IT 6 YEARS AGO.

Does that mean any Israeli Prime Minister can not also visit the site? I mean they have the largest state sponsored terrorism in the world.
