Why are Muslims oppressed by some people now?

I don't know. I'm just confused. Because people hate muslims so much now, because of Al-Qaeda, Bin Laden, and the terrorist attacks. So why do we have the beat for it? Why are head scarfs being banned around the world? Why are we being accused all because people who share the same religion aren't setting a good example of a muslim?

Did Catholics go through this ever since the Holocaust, since Hitler was catholic?

What's with all the oppression...?

Im asking this because I've met a lot of weird people OBSESSED with "wiping out" all muslims. I just want to know why they care too much.

Hitler did not do what he did in the name of catholicism. He did it for the nazi party. It may not seem fair to you, but Muslims are responsible for a great deal of violence in the world right now. We cant be mind readers and figure out which ones are bad and which are good. They tend to keep their ill intentions a secret until it is too late.

certainly i don't see non-Muslims oppressing Muslims on a generic foundation. Very simple....sheer ignorance. Most people only know what they hear about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu al layhi wa salaam) from TV. They lack the drive to research true Islamic teachings and make informed decisions on their own. Most people couldn't even tell you the basic beliefs of muslims. The ban on the headscarfs is to oppress the muslim women, keep them out of schools and government. A simple ID check and to actually look at her face is a good way to establish the truth of a person's identity. If people would only educate on issues such as these before they formulate opinions and perpetuate igorance and stupidity, the world would be a much better place.

For starters, Hitler was protestant, and they are banning the headscarf in many places simply because people must learn to live in the society of the country, not stand outside it. The headscarf is NOT necessary in th religion. Most places it is nothing more than a statement that says the wearer thinks she is better than her neighbours. if you don't want to live by the social mores of a country, don't live there! Move to an Arabic country They are banning it in schools as a safety issue, first for phys-ed, and to prevent terrorists from singling out one specific group

Because Muslims have been the ones oppressing people all over the world for so long. Now the world is starting to get fed up and fight back.

Muslims are very intolerant of other religions. There Are 21 ongoing conflicts in the world right now involving Muslims against another religion.

You don't see any other religion in the world having this many problems with other religions. You don't see very many Christian vs Buddist wars, or Hindu vs Jewish wars.
Its all Muslim vs Christian, Muslim vs Hindu, Muslim vs Jew, Muslim vs Buddist.

Practically all of the current terrorist actions are by Muslims. Unfortunately it seems to be guilt by association.

Muslim groups have spread a lot of hatred around the world and so they should expect to receive hatred back. I think of the explosions in Spain, UK, and the US. I also think of the countless Africans who have been killed in the name of Islam.

If you are a peace loving Muslim then unfortunately you are looked at as being a threat because of the radical elements that have committed such atrocities in the name of Allah.

(2) People are becoming more and more aware of the true nature of islam. Look at all of the terrorist acts over the past decade. And just what group is responsible for MOST of them?

(3) What group was responsible for 9/11 in the U.S.? And you actually expect love and kindness in return for murder, deceit and deception?

(4) There has been silence...or, at best, murmurs of vocal opposition...to the islamic terrorists. If you don't ACTIVELY oppose terrorism by your brethren, then you support it. Plain and simple.

(5) Just WHAT is a "good example of a muslim"?

i know how you feel. i walk down the street happy in my hijab and i see catholic nuns wearing their full covering with head covering also, and i get men yelling curses out their car windows at me and she gets their eyes down how are you today sister God bless you. and the hitler example is good. same as timothy mcvey in OK he was christian and not a single person looked at any christian in a bad way. but the moment a muslim goes bad and becomes a lost sheep people go crazy with it. i think it is because muslims here in america and all over dont speak out the truth, they sit back and take it. they dont correct the people or media when they say neg things. we need a muslim local tv channel, like the UK has, to wear anyone who has cable or dish can flip through and it will be there all muslim all the time teaching the good in islam and our practice, it can be like fox or abc a channel everyone recognizes and will get attention.

I am not muslim, but I am disgusted with some of the answers you've gotten. I just want you to know that not ALL of us non-muslims are this bigoted. Every religion has it's extremist wackos, and any sane person would realize that they are not representative of the religion as a whole. I have two very close friends that are muslim, and they are very good people, and I love them dearly.
