I used to give plasma and never had any problem.

The only reason I don't any more is that I moved and the closest place to give plasma is too far away.

There's a very small chance of getting an infection. But if you consider that chance against other risks you take, it's nothing to worry about. Blood and plasma centers work hard to prevent that sort of thing.

I've been a blood donor for over 30 years, and the worst problem I've had was one time only, when they couldn't find a vein. I went home with a nice bruise on my arm, but nothing worse than that.

giving blood has its risks. one is that you could be infected if the needle used to bleed you is not sterile, but that is hardly the case. another is a risk for bleeding. but if you give blood in the hospital, they check you out first before you could give any blood and that includes clotting studies. these two are the most likely to happen but given today's medical advancements, they are very rare.
