I had the same problem with my peers when I was your age. My friends and my sister used to make derisive comments about the way I talked. I think that you should continue to pursue your interest in the human mind and share your insights, as long as you are not condescending. There is no need to change yourself just because others pick on you. In all likelihood, they are threatened by your intelligence. If this is the case, they aren't worth your time. You deserve to have friends who support you and appreciate your strengths. Don't worry about what these people think. You will probably be more successful than they, and I bet they appreciate your perspective when they have personal problems!

People dislike it when a young person, especially a girl, shows she has a brain and can use it, especially if she has ideas and wants to share them.
If you want to talk like a teen, fine ... check out the latest music video and you'll find that girls are mostly expected to look sexy and available, and not talk much except about 'love', except to go "un huh" and look vacant eyed and a bit imbecilic ... oh and giggle ~ a lot. Try hard to sit on that brain of yours because if you get a reputation as a smart girl, your life will be very difficult.
In secret, pursue the development of your intelligence. Concentrate on learning everything you can about everything and as soon as you can move away from whatever small town or suburban pond you live in and go to a university where your mind can be nurtured.
Amazingly, you will find that in adult life, people will respect your intelligence and give you good jobs and opportunities because of it.
Of course, you won't see so much of your friends, because their busy schedule of watching reality tv and queuing up for unemployment will keep them busy, but you'll find new friends eventually. And guess what ~ some of them will use big words and have knowledge they enjoy sharing, too.
In other words ~ your friends sound like losers. You have a choice ~ be smart and do smart things with smart people, such as joining the school debating team and other not very fashionable but nevertheless smart activities, or be 'cool' and work hard on your dance moves in the hope some fellow will ask you to be his 'ho'.
You're 16 and you're discovering that life is a series of such choices. Make one now, but think hard about which way you want to go, because it WILL affect your future. Think of it this way ~ Britney or Condoleza? Fergie or Hilary?
The choice is yours, because you will only ever have the respect in this world that you earn for yourself.
Best wishes and good luck! :-)

How do you know so much about the humAn mind at 16 years of age? I am sorry, but you are probably coming across as a know-it-all and they just softened it a bit to keep from hurting your feelings too badly. To talk like a teen, stop analyzing what you hear, you DON'T have to have an opinion on everything that you hear. I used to have a problem with that, too, until I realized that I was putting a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself. Just accept most things as they are, as they are said, bite your tongue if necessary. Good luck!!

At 16 I doubt you know half as much as you think you do about the human mind. Your gf and friends might say you talk like a therapist but you spell like your 6.

that sound pretty annoying, well maybe you dont know as much as you think you know, cause if you know a lot about the mind than you would know how a teen think and you can be like one :)
