If high school students are tested for drugs will it help to decrease the number of future and present high school drug users.

It will only lessen the number of athletes who do drugs, not the general population of the school or neighborhood.

yes they should. high school is a time when a lot of kids start experimenting with drugs...even the athletes. If they are subject to random drug tests, then if they are caught using drugs there are more options to intervene before things get bad. also, if they know they are subject to random drug tests they will most likely not do drugs in the first place for fear of being caught.

No, just as prevention programs, or laws do not prevent, or deter people from making wrong choices either.
If it did, we would have seen a major reduction in all the ills these have tried to "prevent", and as we all know it did not.

It might if it's strict enough. And if it's monitored closely so that no one can cheat.
