I want to send my friend a housewarming gift besides the card. She has been so kind and sent me lots of stuff for my baby shower even she didn't attend.

Problem is, I don't have a lot of money to spend with the baby coming, and she has everything she needs for the house.

What can I get her? Something meaningful but not breaking my budget. Something around $100-150 (including shipping within US) will be ok.

Thanks!

I use a catalog and online company called Wine Country Gift Baskets. The name is deceiving as they have lots of baskets without wine if you don't want to send wine or can't to a particular state. I've sent spa baskets, the breakfast basket on a folding bed tray, a BBQ basket that comes with apron, tools etc., as well as wine baskets. They range from $25 to $300. Everyone loves getting the baskets. Take a look online and see if it works for you.

How about a Lowe's or Home Depot gift card. I know that I would appreciate that as a housewarming gift. I am sure there are a million things they need for their new home. These stores have everything! In fact if more than one person got them a gift card they could combine the cards together to get something really great! Maybe you should browse these sites to give you an idea of the possibilities for them. I am sure you will be convinced that this would be a perfect gift for a new homeowner. :)

Personally, I would send them a heart felt thank you note. Handwritten will get a better response.

Here's what I would do:
I would offer to treat her to dinner. Take her somewhere decent, the tab likely won't add up to $100+ which is good since you can't afford to splurge. Let her lead in the conversation and make the night about her and at the end of the night, give her the heart-felt Thank You letter.

For $75 you can get her a "Year of Wishes Candles" set. A tiny keepsake is revealed as these candles burn, each a reminder of the power of positive thought. The candle tins feature a wish to focus on, such as joy, love, fun and adventure. As the ivory-colored candles burn, each reveals a tiny keepsake to remind the recipient of the power of dreams. You can find them at this website:

Why not a gift card to one of her favorite stores ie Bed Bath and Beyond or the like, together with a note that says that you wish you could be there to go shopping with her, but to think of you as she picks out things she wants and need for her house (and believe me there are always those things even for the people who seem to have everything).

Actually that is quite a large amount. A set of crystal glasses is always a beautiful gift. They are useful, beautiful and used on happy occasions. Whenever they sit down for a special meal or have a toast, they will think of you.

Well... believe it or not, they likely DON'T have "everything" for their house. What I like to give as a gift is stuff needed for entertaining... i.e. placemats, cloth napkins, napkin rings, candleholders, and the like. Most times, people do not "splurge" on these items themselves... and the price range is wide open to fit your budget. And if you find placemats/napkins, if you're sewing handy, you could make them yourself... and they're lightweight and unbreakable... idea for shipping!

Have a polite day!

maybe after the baby comes you can have a photo taken of you and the baby and have it framed. but before you could send her a card and tell her you have something special that will be sent after your baby arrives.good luck
