How much would it cost to upgrade the transmission in a Nissan Altima 2006 Automatic? My friend wants to put 22 inch rims on her car but they said she needs a transmission upgrade.

I think you might be thinking about "donks" it's not likely that 22" rims are going to fit on a stock Altima. Donks are usually cars that are raised and have from 20"(mainly 22") to 30" rims. Your going to have to make some major suspension modifications to make em work.. it's possible that that's what they meant by needing to upgrade the transmission (and suspension for that matter) . I left some links for some more info on "Donks." Hope that helped..

I can understand partly what they are saying.....the larger rims and tires are going to put more stress on the drivetrain especially under hard acceleration ( its a mass and torque thing). But, I've never heard of an upgrade kit for a front wheel drive (are Altima's FWD?). Anyway, unless your friend is planning on hot rodding, he/she should be fine without any upgrades.

There you go girl jack up your ride jus to fit bling under the fenders. 22" wheel tires will rub won't handle and will certenly void the suspension systems warranty. And talk about a magnet for car jacking and thiefs? Those wheels weigh almost twice what the 16" that came on the car so you will have suspension problems. I saw a set of 20" and those will fit with out rubbing or raising the car up for clearence.

IF ITS A CVT TRANS THERE IS NO UPGRADE AND WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO VOID HER WARRANTY BY MODIFYING TRANSMISSION ? I HAVE SEEN 22 INCH RIMS ON A LOT OF CARS AND NONE HAD TRANSMISSION UPGRADE ? ( I WORK FOR NISSAN DEALER IN SERVICE)
SOME DEALERS WOULD NOT DO WARRANTY WORK ON YOUR TRANS OR DRIVE TRAIN BECAUSE OF 22 INCH WHEELS. I DON'T AGREE I AM MODIFICATION FRIENDLY WITH IN REASON. GOOD LUCK AND YES THE RIMS AND TIRES PUT EXTRA LOAD ON DRIVE TRAIN PARTS
