Tengo un espanol pregunta. Spanish question: is the accent over the u in futbol important?

I noticed that both futbol with an accent and futbol without an accent both mean soccer. Of course, that may not mean that it is grammatically correct. So, I want to know first of all if that's wrong, that "futbol" without an accent is incorrect, and also if it is correct, where can I find out what the Spanish grammar rules are.

The accent is required for fútbol because without it, the last syllable would be stressed.
The correct syllable to be stressed in fútbol is the first one and since the word ends with a vowel other than an "s" or an "n", the second syllable would be stressed without the accent.

I have not got any concept..... i could no longer get into jap 11 nevertheless so i've got signed up for Introductory Spanish 11 at my college. i'm going to understand some Spanish quickly sufficient. Yaaay. i like gaining wisdom of languages. i do no longer even know if I spelled the equivalent of particular correct. Is it 'si' or 'ci'?

La pregunta espanola. Yes the accent over the -u- in futbol is important.I wish I knew how to do it on this machine.The stress is on the first sylable.

Depends on where you are: here in Argentina, some people tend to pronounce fútbol as if it were written futból. It's an imported word, anyway, so either way is arguably correct.

All accents are there for a reason and they are all important.
The pronunciation changes without the accent.
