You know what.... I'm surprised that nobody has suggested the name Copper-after The Fox and the Hound. It's a classic! Or Shiloh. That's a very nice "movie name". But of course names should reflect the dog. Watch your dog and create a genuine name that suits him. If you really want to, there are plenty of pet name websites out there if you're interested. If you want a certain name....like a German, Greek etc. name there are name lists that have plenty of unique names. That's actually how I ended up naming my GSD. I used a German website. Good Luck with naming your pup and congratulations!!!

I always thought it's best to let the puppy earn its name. You'd be surprised. For instance, I never would have planned to name our girl schnauzer Princess, but after a week or so of her demands and prissy ways, Princess was perfect.
Another time, I had a yorkie who, when young, raised himself on just two legs, and he totally reminded me of a chipmunk. His name became Chip.
If you are sure you want to name it ahead of time, though, or if you just want some good ideas, check out this link.

I WISH I COULD POST TWICE!! I just found this awesome site you'd love. Here's what it says (sorry so long)...
Beagle names
There are two strategies to choosing beagle dog names, aside from just picking a name you like. First of all, beagles are hounds, a dog typically used for hunting. These small hunting dogs were used to track down foxes and sniff out their burrows and holes. They have keen noses, and they have a very distinctive howl, a general trait among hunting dogs. They also have never-ending appetites. Many hunters have chosen beagle names based on these characteristics of the dog.

Of course, there is another way to choose a beagle name. Many dog owners look for a cute name, one that matches the stature and personality of the dog. For beagles, dog names are often chosen simply because they start with a “B”. An old children’s book, called Barney Beagle, made this trend especially popular. Of course, there is no written rule stating that you have to choose a name for either reason. Perhaps you want a beagle name that reflects the smallness of the dog or you simply have a preferred name. On the other hand, you probably have no idea at all what you want to name your puppy, or you wouldn’t be searching for answers. Below is a list of suggestions you can start with, so take a look and have fun!

Male Names: Female Names:

Shooter Foxy
Howler Betty
Barney Brenda
Barnaby Hiccup
Chuck Tootsie
Trapper Bandit
Hoover Brooke
Digs

P.S. I love the name Copper, that someone else suggested!

How about;
Ollie
Tripper
Mister B
Ozzy
Rex
Chance
Brody
Jigg

I name lots of critters, usually I watch their behavior and figure out something that suits them. I try to keep away from "human" names to avoid confusion when we're out and about. I remember once a little boy crying after I had scolded my dog Bart; it happened to be the boys name and he thought I was angry with him.
Congrats on your new family member, they are so fun.
