I was wondering if it was a sin to join a fraternity in college. I was thinking about going for it, it seemed like a good way to make connections and friends and since it would be an NPHC organization, I would learn to step and everything. I had been reading about people saying they have cultist practices, and worship idols and the like, but from the members I've met; it seems they are all Christians. Even the preachers son at my church was in one. So do you all think it is a sin or are people just going overboard with their judgements?

A fraternity would be a great place to witness. If more Christians would join fraternities, they might be able to change the image of drunken orgies that is generally considered to be the norm.

Are you a strong Christian, ready for a such a challenge? If so, Go for it, and God will bless you. If you are young in your faith and not soundly rooted in the Christian principles, I would not recommend it. You can make a statement by not joining a fraternity, as well.

To answer your original question, No, it is not a sin to join a fraternity. If you allow your association with the fraternity to cast you into sinful activities, then that is a sin. Joining is not a sin, its what you do after you join that may or may not be sinful.

My daughter is going to a state college and that they've closed down many of the frats and sororities as nicely. i think they took it basically slightly too a approaches too many times. many times talking although, the Greek fraternities and sororities are in accordance with traditions that maximum Christians does no longer decide to be linked with, so I doubt many Christian based campuses could have them. i'm undecided why they are in a position to't merely have social communities resembling a fraternity or sorority with out the affiliation with Greek way of existence although. The Christian college I attended did no longer have fraternities, yet there have been somewhat some residences close to the college the place a collection of fellows might party and employ the abode and stay mutually for the 12 months.

Young man, it is not a sin to join a fraternity. Go and enjoy yourself. There are a lot of very nice young men in fraternities and they're good students too. You will make friends for a lifetime. I don't think your friends know what a fraternity is. But I do give you one warning that I pray you will heed. Do not take part in any hazing!! Hazing is dangerous and should never be allowed. Be wise and know what you're getting in too. Good luck.

No, unless the other people in the fraternity are sinning. Not all fraternities are bad, just most.

Depends. Are they Christians? Because fraternities are notoriously into doing things that a young Christian man would not want to join in. If they are not Christian, please reconsider placing yourself in a place where temptations may come your way day after day.
