Our Navy has not only been infected with the disease we all know as political correctness but it has come under the influence of international lawyers who pay homage to the U.N. Asked why U.S. Navy officials were supporting UNCLOS, one Navy Commander, with an important position in the Department of the Navy, told me, “The political leaders don’t really understand the issue, and they all listen to the lawyers. And the lawyers are all liberal. It is absolutely the problem. The Navy JAGs and the OGC [Navy’s Office of General Counsel] are liberal. It is a tragedy.”

We should have had some inkling of the problem when, in 2001, a U.S. Navy EP-3 reconnaissance plane was brought down and the crew made hostages by the Chinese. The Chinese regime detained the crew for 11 days and the plane for more than three months. The crew was released after a U.S. statement that China interpreted as an apology.

The U.S. military response was to dispatch Admiral William J. Fallon, then-commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, to China to kiss the butts of Chinese officials. According to press reports, he got excited on a 2006 visit because the Chinese allowed him to sit in the cockpit of a Chinese warplane. Fallon, who has since been made the head of U.S. Central Command, said he wanted U.S.-China ties to be more “open and transparent.” This constituted nothing less than groveling to officials of an outlaw regime.

If the enemy is whoever is going to get you killed, no matter which side he is on…

What does that make the liberal Left here in America?

The U.S. Navy was gutted by the Clinton administration and and while it is better off now, it is still a shadow of its former self.

I am aware however of the large increase in U.S. attack submarines being moved to the West Coast. I believe that 60 percent of them are here so far. I believe there are now two squadrons in Guam and Pearl Harbor is full of attack submarines.

The truth is, the Chinese cannot walk here, or swim, or fly, they will have to come by ship.

They will never make it. They have no chance and they know it.

The Chinese footprint is showing up all over the world. They are indeed buying influence and property world wide with the money they get from the U.S.

We are financing the next world war.

I don't buy anything from China. I buy American or anything now Chinese. I miss out on some cheap equipment but I feel better.

Size doesn't mean power. The USSR had the largest navy by far in the early to mid 1980's. They were no match for the US NAVY, and they KNEW IT. Most of the Chinese Navy of today is left overs from the old USSR fleet, and copied designs from the former USSR. The Best Chinese fighters are the Mig 29, and the Su-31. Neither one of these aircraft have even TOUCHED an F-15 in combat, and we consider the Eagle yesterdays old news. The current top line fighter, the F-23 Raptor has a 6 to 1 superiority advantage over the F-15. You do the math.......

The US Navy has been in decline since Bush's daddy was president. Technically, we did reach the 600 ships that Reagan talked about, but only for a day or two. Right now the US Navy has about 325 ships and is destined to decline below 300, possibly well below 300.

Still, I'm not overly concerned about the Chinese Navy. The Chinese have shown absolutely no capability to operate away from their home waters for any length of time. I see them building a force that will attempt to dominate the South China Sea, East China Sea, Yellow Sea and possibly the Sea of Japan.

I see this as one of the reasons for Vietnam's rapidly warming relations with the United States. Just this summer we had an amphibious battle group that paid a port call in Vietnam.

I also see the Filipinos living to regret the day they booted the United States out of Subic Bay. The Filipinos essentially have no navy and the Chinese will easily monopolize their territorial waters.

As your article states, Admiral Fallon is Bush's man at US central command.

Send your complaints to the appropriate person (eg: the Commander in Chief).

And as the the EP-3 plane that landed on Chinese soil, the US pilot should have been stripped of rank and jailed for not ditching that plane into the sea. But instead, he was decorated by the Bush Admin.

sharia: You're right, I guess I don't get your rambling post (not a question) and lame attempt to blame all problems with the US on the "liberals." Oh well, nothing new here.

As of the subsequent 10 yrs, China nonetheless has an prolonged thank you to bypass earlier transforming into a blue-water military. Its military lacks the means projection applications of the U. S. military's companies. If there grow to be a conflict in Africa, the U. S. military ought to place combatants and marines on a service team in some months. Hypothetically conversing, if there's a conflict in south-east asia, the quickest way the chinese language militia ought to attain there is by land by using autos and railways, no longer by delivery. The chinese language militia claimed early this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days that they now have the means to construct an plane service. asserting you could build one and easily construction one are 2 very countless issues. There are nonetheless no warning signs that they are construction one yet, so that is a load of bull. US seapower is turning out to be extra perfect daily, with all types on severe-tech weaponary. The day the PLA ought to airlift 2 hundred significant conflict tanks and point a amphibious attack on Taiwan at the same time in 18 hours with out being given any stepped forward warning or practice consultation is the day we ought to continually het worried.
