Im a little bit on the dumb side so like..

Is the meat that they put in california rolls raw
or what ?..dont make fun of me i might poke myself..

California Roll are Sushi. Sushi refers to the Rice.

No, it's cooked shredded crab meat.

There are a few types of cooked sushi, that's one of them. You can also get cooked shrimp sushi, and cooked eel with teriyaki sauce, and anything 'tempura' which means fried. There are also things like baked scallop rolls.

If you're not sure what's cooked and what's not, you can always ask the server. Lots of people are just trying out sushi, so don't be embarassed. Also some go off the raw stuff if they're pregnant. I also have a friend from Taiwan who only likes the cooked stuff.

it may be pre-cooked, but it is served cold. That "meat" is generally crab, or imitation crab which is usually made out of pollock.
