My dentist told me I MIGHT need a Deep Cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing). I have never even heard of this before. I did a little research and it looks very painful. Have any fo you had it done? If so, how mcuh discomfort were you in?

It's not painful at all and it may prevent painful gum disease in the future.

You will be numb and a dental hygienist will clean bacteria and plaque from below the gumline. This gives your gum tissue a chance to heal and re-attach to the crown of the tooth.

Afterwards you may be a little sore, but nothing a Tylenol won't fix.
