someone recently bought me a very nice centerpiece bowl from Tiffany & Co. for my first home....problem is, I dunno what the heck to do with it, lol! What table does it go on? How can I best display it? What goes in it, if anything? Thanks.

PS these people are coming over to see the new home soon and I want to have this piece displayed....

here's a pic of it:

You could try those decorative balls, you can find them at places like Pier 1 or Target. They come in a variety of sizes and colors. You could also use plastic fruit that matches your colors, I have one in my living room that has bright green apples. As for placement, if you have an entry way table, sofa table, or coffee table, these would all make great places to show off the piece. If you have a bookcase with lighting, that would be good too.

WOW Gorgeous!!! I love it. If you have time go out to the store and get a bag of potpourri and a tall pillar candle that will fit int he center area. Measure the center for size before heading shopping. Put the candle in the center, then spread the potpourri around it. It will be beautiful.

Another option, our current centerpiece has a candle with glass beads surrounding it. It was made by my sister in a dessert dish.

That particular piece would also make a good floating candle bowl.

Getting away from candles - try fruit, that is an appropriate use for it. Or maybe exotic candies.

Your friends gave it to you for your enjoyment, they will just be happy to see you are enjoying it. Placement is not an issue really. Centerpieces can go a million places in the home: on a bureau, a buffet, a dining table, a kitchen counter or island, a piano, a coffee table, an entertainment center, a mantle. Put it in a spot that matches what you have decided to put into it, and enjoy it!!

Congrats on the first home!!!

What a thoughtful gift! Well, first, because it is fall, you can take it to any florist shop. Ask them to arrange either real or silk flowers in it. Lovely! Or you can have colors put in it that match your home. This time of year, I go outside on my farm and find different dried grasses, flowers, and even weeds plus branches of small bushes and secure them in the centerpiece with a little florist green tape and a stryrofoam sponge placed inside. Just a few ideas!

It usually goes on the dining table. Use anything that will compliment your table setting. Flowers, fruit, interesting pine cones, Xmas balls, a couple of blossoms floating on water are some possibilities. Just keep it low enough that people sitting at the table can see over it to talk. You have generous friends.

how about camillas? I like the idea of taking it to a florist and having them design the flowers. A beautiful bowl like that deserves it!

its too formal for anything dried or pine cones, etc.

i would either fill with lovely apples or pears, and set on your kitchen counter.
