The U.S. government has been trying to ban online gambling since the beginning. They have tried everything but it's still here and always will be. Land-based casinos are licensed and probably paying off politicians to keep online casinos from competing with them.

The problem is, banning online poker or any other form of online gambling is unenforceable because the FBI isn't looking over your shoulders when you're sitting at your computer at home. All they can do is apply preasure to the online casino owners and the institutions that handle the financial transactions.

With all of their huffing and puffing, the online gaming industry has still found a way. Some online casinos have buckled but there are plenty that are still accepting bets from U.S. players.

The internet is world-wide and the U.S. has to understand that they are only able to regulate the U.S., not the rest of the world. Most online casinos are not U.S. based and are operating in juristictions where it's perfectly legal. This has been an ongoing debate within the world trade organization.

For example, if a U.S. resident takes a vacation to Amsterdam and spokes some pot and hires a prostitute, he's not breaking any laws because it's perfectly legal there.

Online gambling is here to stay. If you're having difficulty playing poker online, try http://www.CasinoUnreal.com They still accept U.S. players.

They are talking about online poker and this has been being battled over for a long time now. Go to www.pokerplayersalliance.com to read all of the latest news and updates. At this point it is completely illegal to play real cash games online in 11 states and very difficult to play legally in the rest of the states. HOWEVER, most poker sites have found ways to work around the laws and are still allowing us players from all states to play. Some sites allow no us players but there are hundreds that do. I live in one of the "11 states " and i still play real cash games online all the time.

First of all, for "Frank" who stated "casinos probably lobby to end on-line poker." Not true. I worked in a poker room for nineteen years. (just retired) We loved TV poker and on-line poker. It increased our business tremendously. It's good for the entire industry. Now I don't think on-line poker will ever be outlawed. There are tax revenues to be considered and it could never be enforced. Right now it can be difficult to fund our accounts, but there is always a way. I expect that law to be over turned eventually.

There are two bills in Congress right now, one in the House and one in the Senate, regarding lifting the restrictions on internet gambling to allow for online poker and the funding of player accounts in the US. They only apply to poker. While I don't have the specific bill numbers, you should find the information and contact your representatives to support these measures.
