She is 13, has been to the vet repeatedly and the hospital. Fluid keeps building up in the abdomen and she wont eat or drink hardly at all. It is either cancer or Chylothorax. There is no recovery likely.I love her so much I cant make THE decision. Please help me.

That is so very sad. We just went thru the same thing only she was 1yr old and was in last stage diabetes. We did the kindest thing and put her to sleep. I know you love her,and it is a terrible decision to make, but in the long run,you make that decision because you have to think of her and her pain, not you and your pain of losing her.She does not understand what is happening, do the kindest thing you've probably ever done and put her out of her misery, then with the help of family and friends, you will grieve and get support.

I had a pomeranian with a tumor in his brain and he would have seizures and run into walls and we ended up putting him down. We made the decision because he wasnt "him" anymore. He didnt have the joy and personality he once did, he wasnt enjoying life anymore. His tumor was untreatable and we ended up making THE decision but it was better in the end. Everyone is different but remeber animals cant tell up "hey mommy my tummy hurts so bad i dont want to eat, but i am so hungry from not being able to eat ....i am miserable." Thiink more of the happy life they have lived and the better memories you had together, and end on a good note instead of months of suffering like we made my dog go through because we were so selfish and didnt want to let go.

You could take her to another vet for another opinion . Explain your feelings to the vet and possibly there`s something in the way of medication/treatment that MIGHT give your cat a chance .

One VERY important thing you must remember .............. if she`s in pain , and nothing can be done to relieve that pain , you can`t let her suffer !! In that case , you`ll have to make a decision , and I`m sure you know what that is .

I'm so sorry to hear about your pet. If she is suffering too badly you as the owner will have to make the decision to put her down or make her as comfortable as possible until she dies.

There is a Yahoo group I've just joined recently that use flax seed oil and cottage cheese as a cancer treatment in pets and people and they claim to have a 90% cure/remission rate. You might want to check them out and someone there might be able to help you. The link is: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/FlaxSeedOil2/

Good luck and hang in there,

Vamp

Put her to sleep, I know, it sucks, I had a cat with cancer and was put in those shoes before. You will be ending her painful misery, just trust me on this.
Youll be doing her a favor, really

be strong for her, put your own feeling to one side. Take a deep breath and let the vet help her to go as painless as possible. It's a lot easier than watching her go slowly

Think of your cat and not yourself. Do you want your cat to suffer? Do you want to hold a suffering cat? Or remember a happy cat? Get yourself together and think of the cat first. Then you can mourn and grieve later.

Please do the humane thing and have her put to sleep. Right now she is suffering, put an end to her misery. I know it's a hard decision to make, but do you really want her to suffer?

You don't want her to suffer anymore, right? It's a very hard choice, but you have to do it. Be kind to her in her last days. Don't let her suffer. Plan a nice burial.
