Help me!! OK, here is what happened
Yesterday I went to school and my friend was there, she looked kinda tired, but she said she wasnt getting enough sleep and that she was fine. So later on at lunch, we were eating together and she had hersheys chocolate and she broke a piece off for me and my other friend, and we ate it. Later on we were in gym and we were partners and we had to hook elbows and hold hands and stuff like that, i never touched my face or anything cuz i am a real germaphobic. i HATE throwing up i have severe emetophobia. I washed my hands a lot yesterday and today at school she didnt come in. I asked my teacher why and he said she either had the stomach virus from catching it from her mom or she said her stomach hurt and her mom was keeping her home for precautions. He said he was not sure which. So now, 26 1/2 hours after i was last in contact with her, I only have a headache no stomach virus symptoms, but do you think i will catch it? im really scared no joke answers

well it has been 26 1/2 hours so you should probably see for another day or so...in the meantime eat a lot of fiber (bananas for example) and lots of water

It's entirely possible. I have the same fears as you, so I know you don't want to hear that but it is possible.
However, this is what I know about catching it. It's normally transferred if you touch the infected person's fluids. Or if the sick person makes food. But sometimes it can transfer if you are in close contact with the person. It just depends. Also since I know you're counting the hours, sympotms will appear within 48 hours. So if by this time tomorrow you haven't gotten any symptoms, you can relax.
But just calm down. There is a possibility, but it is slim. Plus if you calm down your mind won't be quite as focused on it and it will be better. Trust me. Best of luck.

You'll be fine. You don't have anything, just a headache from worrying over this matter obsessively. Have you ever talked to a professional about these irrational fears and phobias you have? You might want to pursue this because your worrying is at a level where it seems to be somewhat excessive and to the point where it might affect your school work and interpersonal relationships.

I'm just suggesting this in a friendly way and hope that you will not worry even more over what I have written. Best of luck to you. You sound very intelligent.

I actually have emetophobia too! It could take several days in order to see any symptoms, but just hanging around someone and even eating something they have touched does not mean you will get sick if they are sick.

You may catch it if its contagious. But if youre not feeling sick now you may not get sick. It depends on how long you were around her. Its kinda like a cold. Sometimes you get it, and others you dont.

you might..but you really shouldn't worry yourself so much! Everyone gets sick once and a while, it's ok.
