ok i tried out for cantoring u no church.. the person who sings in front of the church? and im really nervous bc i dont no if ill make it... and bc my voice cracked in the middle of my audition and yahh........

to not be nervous- focus on somethng in the back of the room above the peopkles head then when you sing imagin the room empty and belt it out. If you fear what is in front of you then how will you ever get anywhere?

Don't worry hun! Singing is not required of the parishioners. And if this anxiety over whether to sing or not impairs your ability to concentrate on the Mass, best just to listen to the music and not think about singing yourself. And don't you worry - if you take a look around, you'll find plenty of others who aren't singing either. It doesn't make you a bad Catholic. Dear, there is SO much more to the Catholic Faith than just singing at Mass. Whatever brings you closer to Christ is the way you want to go. Let's face it - most people in this world AREN'T good singers! I know I'm not. I might try to sing an E and my ears will hear an A! Just don't let the whole singing issue affect your ability to be attentive to the Mass. You can always whisper the words. I do that sometimes if I don't feel like singing. Believe me - no one is there to critique your vocal skills! We're all Catholic Christians for one reason, and that is to worship God!

A sung mass is most pleasing to God. Although they call them songs and not hymns. Hymns sung in church and when the priest sings the mass, it is heaven on earth to God's ears. You don't have to shout it out, but even sing in your heart if it embarrasses you. God bless you.
