Skaizun, You may have misunderstood the kind of glasses I am speaking about. Reading glasses that are expressly made for the purpose of reading.

Safe, yes.

Wearing the wrong prescription will cause headache and fatigue, temporary effects, at worst.

But best is to wear the correct RX, which may well BE reading glasses for some people. But, since most monitors are further way than the standard distance for reading a book, it's quite common to need a different, weaker, reading Rx to suit that longer range (often also handy for cooking, decorating...)
These can be specifically precribed, (and that should be considered as standard during any competent eye exam) but many people find their last, or last but one, reading Rx very good for computer work. Exactly because it's no good for close reading anymore!

Yes, in the same regard that it is safe to use reading glasses while watching TV. You are probably referring to (or wanting to spread rumors about!) the myth that glasses somehow magnify the light and/or radiation emanating from the monitor, and thus will fry your eyes. It isn't true. However, I wouldn't put my nose right up against the screen, with or without glasses! The static shock alone would be most annoying! ;)
