Radhastami is the celebration day of Srimati Radharani's birth. Srimati Radharani appeared on the eighth day of the waxing moon of Hrsikesha (Bhadra) mase, at noon. In Goluka Radharani goes to Barshana (Varshan) for Her Appearance day celebrations

On Bhadra Sukla Saptami, Sridama, Radharani's brother or Her mother Kirtida comes and picks Her from Yavat, Her mother in-law Jatila's house and takes Her to Barshana where there is three day celebration for Her appearance day. Krsna comes from Nandgram and stays for three days to participate in the festival and of course Radha & Krsna enjoy unlimitedly Their ever-new pastimes in Their secret hideouts, even in very house of Vrishbhanu & Kirtida-devi. That is why everyone goes to Barsana on Radhastami for 4:30 am Mangal Arotik at the Sriji temple there.

Radha's birthday is celebrated as Radhastami.During this time devotees are allowed special sanctions not normally allowed. For example, Radharani's name is normally not chanted due to the possibility of committing offenses towards her. Neither are all devotees qualified to enter into her kunda, or lake, which is considered holy. On the festival day of the appearance of Radha Kunda (Radharani's lake), devotees wait up until midnight in order to bathe there. And there is much recitation of her holy names on her "appearance day" or "birthday". She is said to "appear" because she does not take birth or die, being an eternal associate of Krishna, both of whom are liberated. She is the most chaste woman, "married" to Krishna.-

For Radhastami celebrations, we have organised a Bhajan followed by Puja and aarthi. Today we fast and we distribute the Prasad after Puja and eat them. We feed all guests with many varieties of Prasadas which will be one time dinner.-

Hare Krishna,

Actually nothing much in comparison to what I should have been doing on this supremely auspicious day.

I just could go for Mangal Arati & Whole morning program today morning at Shri Shri Radha Kunj Bihari Temple in Pune (www.iskconpune.com).
Had ecstatic Dancing Kirtans.
Tried to chant few nicer rounds of Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.
Fasted till noon.
And now again in the evening I'll be going back to temple for Abhishek and Lecture, Kirtans and Prasadam.

But still I missed so much of precious time on this potent day, I couldn't remember Shrimati Radharani during whole day in my office due to the work load:(.

That's how I let this day go by.

Hare Krishna

Radhastami is the celebration day of Srimati Radharani's birth. Radharani is the consort of Krishna. She was born 15 days after Krishna's birth, which is celebrated also - Janmastami.

Traditionally, Followers of Gaudiya Vaisnavism will follow a half-day fast on this day.

Srimati Radharani is the eternal consort of Lord Krishna. Her appearance day is celebrated exactly two weeks after Krishna's.

Radharani's special qualification is that She is the best devotee of Krishna. Krishna therefore loves Her the most. On Her festival day, devotees seeking Krishna's grace will especially ask Her to grant them devotion to Her beloved Lord, knowing that if they can attain Her favour, they can attain His as a natural consequence.

Others may pray to Lord Krishna that He may permit them to approach the lotus feet of Srimati Radharani, knowing that if He is satisfied by their prayer then She will smile upon them also and pure devotion will be theirs.

Sri Sri Radha and Krishna are the Eternal Divine Couple and are forever bound up in transcendental love for one another. Worshipping Them is the goal of life for Gaudiya Vaisnavas. This esoteric subject matter is not openly discussed by devotees but on this special day devotees will remind themselves of the sublime goal of their religious practices.

On Radhastami, Sri Sri Radha Krishna deities are traditionally dressed entirely in flowers. A spectacular sight not to be missed! Also, please note that only on this day may you receive the auspicious darshan of Srimati Radharani's lotus feet. On all other days Her feet remain covered.

Devotees will fast until noon and sing devotional songs in praise of the Divine Couple and Their pastimes. Then a feast is served, most often including the famous Radha Red — a delicious, spicey, plum chutney.

I don't know about goddesses, but when I want to get a woman's blessings, I usually tell her "no, that dress does not make your *** look huge."

Sorry, couldn't resist.
