Only if very minor correction was needed for one or two teeth. At 13 years of age crowns are not recommended.

Crowns can fix crooked teeth. I have some on my front teeth both on the top and bottom. Those teeth are straighter and more even than they were before I had the crowns put on. However, I wouldn't recommend that as a way to straighten teeth. Preparing teeth for crowns is a tedious and painful procedure plus it's also expensive.

Grinding down good, healthy teeth isn't the way to go. For one thing, all that grinding can make them supersensitive. They might become sensitive to hot and cold for the rest of your life. Also, every time work is done on a tooth, the nerve is traumatized. When you have major work done on a tooth, you increase the possibility that it will abscess some years down the road. Really, it's altogether cleaner and easier to have your teeth straightened with braces.
