Well so have I. There aren't very many times I get fired up enough to try and do something about injustice in the world. I guess maybe it just needed to hit home before I felt the motivation.

Sure, being harassed be a debt collector isn't the worst thing that could happen to you, but it's still pretty bad. Being treated like less than a human is never fun, no matter who you are. Even if you really do owe the money they are asking, you still deserve to be treated like more than dirt.

So I made a myspace page called "Collectors Beware." I'm going to keep it updated with tips, stories, links, etc. Even if all it does is bring people together that have had similar experiences, that's good enough for me.

Please add me to your friends if you like to

If we all know our rights and decide to take a stand against these practices, maybe we can make things better.

Thanks :)

You have to pay your bills. If you have been charged incorrectly than you should dispute the charge and don't wait til it goes to collection. Apparently you have disregarded your past due invoices. I don't like to send out statements to people because they own me money. It is a waist of my time and I provided a service and should be paid accordingly. Should you have a returned check with any Company, your information not only goes to Collection if not paid it also goes to a District Attorney. It is the same as committing theft if you don't pay. Think about it! Why should a thief deserve royal treatment.

Nope, I've never had a problem with a debt collector. Probably because I pay my bills on time and don't have debt collectors calling me.

I did, however, have a lot of fun with a collector who tried to badger me over my deceased parent's credit card. He hung up on me, never to call again.

i starred you and will add you when time opens up!
my story was with a hospital..
tried to tell me that i won't be allowed to go back!
tried to scare me into accepting something i couldn't pay!
i told the guy to shove hospitals are a public service and you can not refuse me the guy sat on the phone and argueed with me!
So i told him if i died in the waiting room in a there hospital that would be a lot larger debt then what i have with them!

he stopped calling me! :)

I don't think anyone has ever had a positive experience with the tough tactics they use.

Great Idea!

If y'all just paid the money you owe, you wouldn't have problems with collectors.
