Bush has almost destroyed the military and drained the Treasury.
Guard and Reserve really get shafted as they can only earn 50 points(days) per year except for active duty toward retirement at age 60. Active duty can retire after 20 years and the time between fighting counts also.
Military Retirement Overview
The military retirement system is arguably the best retirement deal around. Unlike most retirement plans, the Armed Forces offer a pension, with benefits, that starts the day you retire, no matter how old you are. That means you could start collecting a regular retirement pension as early as 37 years old. What's more, that pension check will grow with a cost of living adjustment each year.

No. Do you know who's responsible for that astronomical historical average deficit over the past four decades? It was the Republicans, or more specifically Ronald Reagan. He was the granddaddy of voodoo economics. At least he had an excuse because he had Alzhemer's disease. Anyone with a fully functioning brain should recognize that this wildly irresponsible deficit spending can't go on forever, but the Bushes both tried to outdo him. If Dubya is giving the illusion of cutting back, it's only because his spending for the past six years raised the average to new heights.

Where are you getting this info? Bush is the worst President in American History, I've never heard so much lies & deceit. Our Military is being short-changed, They give their lives to fight an unpopular war & when they get their legs blown off or can no longer work due to injuries they can't even get on base shopping benefits. Americans. Make no mistake Bush has increased our deficit tenfold. The man is a maverick doing whatever he wants regardless of what anyone wants or thinks. American rights are being stripped away in the name of homeland security. (Funny I don't feel any safer at all) Who protects us from you? I think we need to take the blinders off & see what's really going on with billion of dollars of illegal no-bid contracts the only person benifiting from this war is Bush. I feel sorry for our next President cause it gonna take more than one term just to straighten out all the damage our current Pres. has caused & some of it unrepairable damage. We have lost faith in our goverment because of our President Sometimes I think he's the devil in disguise. Personally I can't wait until November 2008. P.S. some people like to ride on the sucess of others & stick their chest out & say I did that but when things aren't good are quick to blame someone else. P.S.S. Who is we are you on the Presidents payroll.

Yes, I think that the government contractors were really suffering and the Bush Administration has really helped the poor defense industry.

Oh yeah - I think it's just GREAT that we're spending billions of dollars doing absolutely NOTHING. And might I remind you that by the end of Clinton's term, there was a budget SURPLUS - so guess who CREATED that deficit that you're so proud of reducing?

i am sad to say that the military was in a good shape if downsized under clinton and the reason i say that is clinton would not have had the probloms bush had and if he did he might have had more support.
