Have any Christians told you to "accept Jesus and you will goto heaven" ?

If so, then know that their claim is a boastful statement based on arrogance and the belief that faith alone will save them.

When they say they are guaranteed Paradise by faith then they have negated the value of the Mercy of God by not acknowledging that the final decision rests upon GOD and he will judge based on HIS criterion which may include the fruits of faith.

Therefore, there is no guarantee for Paradise based on anyones faith alone and nobody can be proud of their status based on faith.

If anyone tells you that if you bring faith into your life you will be guaranteed Paradise then know that they are boasting about something that is not in their control.

How can you be arrogant about going to a place that doesn't exist?

You are certainly right that there is no guarantee.

Jesus never taught that we are saved by faith alone. He talked about a number of other requirements:

Baptism (Mark 16:16; John 3:5)
Self-renunciation (Matt 5:3, 10; 10:39; 16:25; 19:23; Mark 8:35; 10:21; Luke 9:24; 17:33; 18:22; John 12:25)
Repentence (Matt 3:2; 4:17; 18:8-9; Mark 9:42-48)
Obedience to God, doing what is right and just (Matt 5:20; 7:21; 19:17; Mark 10:17-18; Luke 10:25-28; John 12:50)
Adopting the humility of a child (Matt 18:3-4; 19:14)
Eating the bread of life (John 6:51, 53-54)

One final requirement is endurance to the end (Matt 10:22, 24:13; Mark 13:13, Luke 21:16-18). We are not saved unless with continue to live for God as his children until death.

Cheers,
Bruce

There is no boasting among those that know that their faith is a GIFT from God.

1 Cor 1:27-31
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

As a Christian I am often accused of arrogance for speaking the truth, but if I sincerely believe that my words or actions are motivated by a love of the truth, a sincere desire to help someone, a spirit led defense of righteousness and truth, a wise plan of setting brushfires in men's minds, a valuable attempt to awaken and relieve the afflicted... AND... if I am not motivated by selfish desires, anger, pettiness, revenge, pride, etc., then I can be assured that I am on the right side of the line between truth and arrogance.

I have learned that in speaking Truth the charge of arrogance is a certainty, because one thing this world cannot stand is someone who is both (a) assured, and (b) correct. The world will accept your word if you are unsure, or if you are incorrect, or if you allow for some other solution, or if you are willing to compromise with untruth.

So anytime you are both right and sure you are right, then you will be charged at some level with arrogance.

I have faith in Christ. There is a difference. NOTHING earns me heaven- not even my belief- what gets me heaven, is the sacrifice that Jesus paid on the cross to save me from my sins. I had to admit that I am a sinner- I cannot just say, I HAVE FAITH, and wind up in heaven. Admitting that we are not good enough- and then accepting Christ as payment for our sins, and then He gives us the grace and faith we need to live this life. If faith in God saves- He would not have had to send His Son to die- our belief would be enough.

We are promised (guaranteed) heaven by faith. You misrepresent faith by saying it is something that a person does. That would make it a work and take away from the glory of God. Faith is a gift from God. Faith comes by the Holy Spirit. It is not chosen. God can be rejected but not accepted.

God said the only thing needed to go to heaven is the faith that Jesus Christ is the Savior. Good works are a result of faith in Christ. All good works are the Holy Spirit working through people. No person is directly responsible for the good works they do. This is why works are not a way to heaven. Christ's sacrifice for our sins is the only way to heaven. Faith in that sacrifice by Christ is a gift freely given by God. He alone is responsible for the people going to heaven but He is not responsible for the those that choose to reject Him.

I am confident in my salvation because God promised me and all other believers that we would go to be with Him in paridise because of the sacrifice by Jesus Christ. Praise the name of Jesus Christ!

Actually we can know we are saved and going to Heaven. It is in the Bible. It tells us that these things have been written to us so we know we have eternal life. Eternal life means we get to go to Heaven. It is not arrogance in the least. It is trust in the Father.

1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

All by your "definition" of terms. But by the BIBLE'S definition (the only one that matters), we have 100% guarantee of heaven after we die. Those who reject to their dying breath the belief that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again, will spend eternity in hell.
