They do ONLY if they continue in the sins of their parents.

Deut 5:8-10
9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing love to a thousand [ generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments.
(from New International Version)

Since the seed of Adam was present in the garden as part of Adam, it is not hard to see why it also receives the punishment of death. The sins of the parents may multiply the effect of the curse they were already under, but the children are not directly responsible for them.

In a round-about way...yes, they might.

If the parent is wasteful, spends all they have, does not save money, etc....the child may not be able to go to college, or may have a more difficult time paying for college...thereby, the child is paying for the sin of the parent.

If the mother smokes/drinks/does drugs while pregnant, the child may have a defect...and again, would be paying for the sins of the parent.

If someone is a bad parent, abuses the child etc...it cause psychological trauma that affects the child for the rest of their life...so, again...they may pay for their paren't sins.

So, in that way, yes....

Of course not. A few Bibles translate Exodus 20:5b; '... for I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishment for their fathers' wickedness on the children of those who hate me, down to the third and fourth generation ...'
These few Bibles erroneously translate the Hebrew for 'visit upon' as 'punish'. 'Visit upon' is the correct translation: ' ... for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me.
This is consistent with Ezekiel 18:20; '... only the one who sins shall die. The son shall not be charged with the guilt of his father, nor shall the father be charged with the guilt of his son.
So you are not punished for your ancestors sins but you can suffer the consequences of their sins.

yes

Great example: megadave....i never saw a 12 year old kid thrown in jail when his dad was busted for a drug deal or armed robbery.

You don't think the children hurt or get robbed of that parent.
The children 'pay' with the loss of their innocence.
